Grrr...Mothercare delivery of our Bug, car seat, cot, mattress etc was meant to be coming this Friday so I dutifully booked the day off, only to get a text earlier from them saying it will be delivered today  No one is in, so I will have to try and rearrange the delivery for Friday.
Why oh why do so many companies just presume that people don't go out to work and sit around the house all day just in case a delivery comes..??
That is really annoying! I hope you can arrange a redelivery.
Just bought our baby carrier, it's a Chicco one from Tesco, added a few cot bed blankets and sheets that we needed and also another sleeping bag (only had one originally) to get to £50 and 500 points - I think we're almost there with stuff we need now, a friend is sending me a box of newborn stuff from her recent baby so once I know what's in there I'll know whether I need any more vests etc as that's what I'm low on at the moment.
OH got a voucher from Boots parenting club the other day for 20% off pushchairs, we've been trying to use it on the Maxi-Cosi Streety that we want but the discount isn't being applied. Grrrr! :mad:My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

You'd probably do better with your OH than with some maternity staff, I had a brutal encounter with a (lady) consultant :eek:
I wouldn't let my OH though. For a start he has huge hands:rotfl: If I'd known the consultant wasn't just going to examine me she'd have got nowhere near me either :rotfl::rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Good afternoon everyone!
I need your moneysaving advice... I need to know how to maximise my discounts etc from Mothercare:
My friend will be assisting me with a Employee Discount Card (20% off I think), but there are all sorts of other % off online/quidco/baby plan/signing up to newsletters. My brain has stopped working properly and I am a little lost.
(I am looking at getting the Linear Freeway + crib + cot + a few extras)
Anyone with experience?0 -
Thanks lilian..there's a slim chance that OH may be home in time but it is very slim. He's taken our spare bed and mattress over to my folks house to store in their garage as phase 1 of the nursery!
kylie I would advise you go into a MC store and ask them to help you maximise the discounts you may be entitled to. We did this last w/e and saved over £250 on our order! :j
They always seem to be very nice and helpful in there.
delain I think OH would be prepared to give the sweep a go as he is quite hardy and non-squeamish, but it just sounds a bit :eek:Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Good afternoon. well i am 28+4 today had my 28 week check up with the midwife yesterday, mentioned how tired i am she thinks it may be my iron so have to wait for bloods to come back (but i have been exhausted all the way through with this one and my iron levels have been fine lol )
My blood pressure was high, and the baby is measuring 34 weeks :eek::eek::eek: i have to go back in 2 weeks and if baby is still measuring big she will send me back to the hospital before my 36 week check up, don't think it's doing my blood pressure any good though thinking i'm going to have a mahoosive baby lol :rotfl:Mum to 4, No 5 due Xmas Day 2010

Ive decided to start getting organised early as our future and where we will be living when the baby is born is all up in the air at the moment.
I went to Asda today and got a few things from the baby event. I got the Huggies new born starter kit for £3, then went to the car, opened it up for the voucher and went back in for another at £1 :j. Ill go and get a few more before it end.
I also got some feeding bottles as I plan to express to give me a break. So I got a pack of 6 Tommee Tippee 9oz bottles for £10 ( Tesco had a pack of 3 down to £8.99) I dont think ill need that many but it was better value.
I got the Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser for £10 down from £19. it had an extra small bottle, a tiny dummy and a bottle brush inside it.
All I need now is to decide whether baby will go straight into the cot or get the £8 brand new moses basket and stand someone is selling on ebay.
oh and buy baby grows/vests:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
