Delain, that's a great idea, thanks. I'd not thought of the co-showering option for Daddy and baby. I couldn't do it - I like the water boiling hot but OH is more tepid!

I've added the baby bath to appease my mother, she is giving us my old one so it won't cost anything. If I don't like using it though she is having it back :)

I found the baby bath killed my back. There was no point in having it in the livingroom as too far to fill/empty etc. And no point putting it in the big bath.
I also used the kitchen sink as the kitchen is one of the warmest places in the house, then I got one of those spongy seats for the bath. I never let go of the baby but it gave a little extra support to help your back.

At least your appeasing your mum by taking it. But im sure youll find out what suits you and the baby. My most used item was a top and tail bowl. By my 2nd i didnt see any point in bathing him every night as he wasnt dirty and the bath didnt really calm him. So at least the top and tail bowl was quicker and easier and still made sure he was clean.

I absolutely hated the baby bath with DD, I was given one so luckily didn't spend any money on it but I think I tried a few times with it then gave up and got in the bath with DD just before OH would be home from work so he could help getting her out. With DS i had a bath support which I found to be brilliant partly cos then he could share with DD in the big bath and my hands were reasonably free, I bathed with him a few times too. Some people love their baby baths though so I suppose its just whatever suits, I'm glad I got to try one without wasting my money.

My list includes most of what Dusty has but also stuff for me like nursing bras, maternity pads.

Dusty, are you getting a changing table or just using the bed/floor? I can't decide if I really need one. Also you need to include blankets and sheets for the cot and pram too. Cos mine will be a mid-winter baby I've got cardigans/jackets/snowsuit on the list as well.

Btw what is a nappy stacker?

re:baby baths, OH takes Squeak in the shower!

He puts it on very gently and the right temperature, gets in then I pass her to him, I wash her hair (she's still got it all:D)he washes her then passes her back to me where I'm waiting with a towel and I dress her. The skin to skin is nice for them, plus it keeps her warm and you can see she enjoys it :)

You need to be confident though or they pick up on the tension!

Sorry, I'll stop taking the thread hostage now :o:o:o
Oooooooo never thought of that:Tmy Dh also likes a [STRIKE]cold [/STRIKE]tepid shower, personally I like it 'melt your skin off' hot..and yes thats a proper temperature measurement:p:D Delain please don't stop posting...tis very helpful:) plus I like to hear how your smallest monster is getting on:o:)

I wasn't going to get a bath support but that's a really nice idea :) I already have a bath and top/tail bowl so I guess I'll just get one if I can pick one up cheaply.

Dusty - thanks for posting your list, I'm going to go through it and check off everything I have so if I have anything you don't I'll post and let you know.

I've been looking for muslin cloths everywhere, they seem to be out of stock everywhere I go! Going to Sheffield Meadowhall at the weekend (seeing John Simm in Hamlet - YUM) so will see if I can find any there otherwise I'll be on Ebay.

Ah, I'm glad you guys think I'm more or less covered. I'm taking the baby bath and will have a go with it, but honestly I reckon I'll either get in with the baby or it'll go in the kitchen sink in a support. we'll see when the time comes what bubs prefers. OH loves a bath so he will prob do the majority of it. I certainly won't be bathing them every night. A good wash will see them right, maybe every 2-3 days they'll get a bath?

MI3 - I've got a seperate list for stuff for me, mainly what I'm taking in my hospital bags, happy to share that too though :)
I'm going to put a changing mat on top of our chest of drawers in the nursery and that will become our changing station.
I won't need sheets for the pram as it comes with them. I thought I had put cot sheets on the list but obviously haven't will add them now - thanks for that.
a nappy stacker is just somewhere to store your nappies, not necessary but looks pretty and would be convienent hanging off our chest of drawers as not much room on top. Only getting if though if i can get it cheap on ebay.

Lillian - some lovely muslin cloths in Asda and Sainsbugs. I'm getting a load from friends but think I'll treat myself to a new pack too. be sure to let me know if I'm missing anything.
