Love the birth story BB!
Well I'm definitely going to be queue jumping, have a sweep booked for Thursday, then if nothing happens in the meantime I'm booked in for an induction on Monday. It's all happening quite quickly now. Have tried reflexology to encourage things to start on their own and am going for a curry tonight, but otherwise I'm in the hands of the medical profession.0 -
Thanks all for bloods advice - I guess I'll ring the midwife and double check.

Mine did, but I don't think they all do. She checked the blood test results, did blood pressure and urine checks and had a little poke at my tummy.
She also talked to me about home birthing and how they work it, because that is what I'm booked in for, and gave me a chance to ask questions.
That is mostly what happens until you get to full term, unless they need to check anything further.0 -

Hi Fairy.
At mine she went through the 12 week blood test results, took more blood samples for the triple test, BP, urine, and just had a general chat about how things are going. She didn't feel my tummy or try for a heartbeat. Ours don't try until after 20 weeks apparently since it can cause unnecessary stress if the heartbeat can't be found.0 -
Popping head round the corner for a whinge:o
I have heartburn/hot flushes/feel like I'm about to throw up and a child that thinks its funny to scrape my bladder with what feels like finger nails whilst hooking it's feet under my ribs:( Oh and I'm shattered after getting about 3 hours sleep in between waking coz of heartburn or loo trips:(
Ok so I know I have an easy pregnancy but I don't cope with ANYTHING very well when I'm tired:o I loves my sleep!
Thank god I have an automatic so I can drive home with one hand in the air to give bubs some room, those of you who are driving manuals have my deepest sympathy for late pregnancy:p:)
Rach thats bum...lets hope they come to a conclusion tomorrow:) and stick to your guns! Don't let them sway you into something you really do not want / cannot do!1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

Fairy - mine did blood pressure, was supposed to do urine but I didn't know I had to bring a sample so she didn't, and tried for the heartbeat. She didn't discuss my blood results with me but I'd only had them 2 weeks previously.
Rach - I really feel for you. Hopefully you'll get a more positive result tomorrow with the C-section.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Rach -sorry to hear it didnt go as you thought, My consultant really seemed against planned c-section as well, where as midwife seemed to be pushing it??? Wait and see what happens tomorrow, you may feel better after you discuss the options a bit more. If you are anything like me its the not knowing thats driving me mad, knowing there could be complications but not being in control!! But i guess that is the same for everyone at the end of the day.
Hope you get some more answers tomorrow. ((((hugs))))Baby No.1 due 27/9/10

Rach - that makes me mad that instead of considering the individuals health and well-being its all about meeting targets and statistics.
I find it strange that they're so willing to whip women onto the operating table for an emergency c-sec when the slightest thing out of the ordinary happens, but not make a perfectly sensible decision (in your case) to have a planned one.
Can you take someone with you tomorrow to help you state your case?We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
thanks all, appreciate the thoughts.
Gems that's exactly it. MW is more keen than consultant which really surprised me!
My sister reckons that he didn't want to be forced into making a snap decision when he was not happy I'd been referred so late in the day, and would want opinion of the anaesthetist about whether natural birth is realistic or not. I will stick to my guns tomorrow, really don't want to be induced as have heard it's so much more painful, he seemed anti induction too as said better to go into labour naturally.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
