  • My issue with names is we really want a Scottish name as we both have Scottish names and surname but don't want anything too common or too out there!! So far we have Hamish, Fraser, Logan, Callum or Cameron but nothing that really stands out!

I know of a Callum, 2 Camerons and a Connor. All about 8 years old, all are little sods, although Callum has a heart of gold and is inseparable from my DD1 sometimes. :o:o:o

We're on the south coast though. A friend and fellow mse poster has a Mason, I like that name.

it's girls names for us. I like Ava but DH doesn't, he likes Jessica but i keep thinking of who frames rodger rabbit and chloe but that used to be my cats name :D so we have ruled both out. Scarlet we both like but both our families carries the ginger gene and I think a red head called scarlet may be cruel.

Our scan is a week on Friday I hope this baba is willing to show his/her sex.

Does anyone have a preference for what sex they want/are having. I have 2 girls and I thought I would 'want' a boy but on thinking about it I thing a 3rd girl would actually be easier considering my two are currently 2 and 3 and will be 2 and 4 when this one arrives. I know what i'm doing with girls. Boys are a total new experience

I also have two girls even and even though they are 17 and 8 I feel the same about the sex of this one.

    xx

Cheers Tigtag nice to know i'm not being a weirdo.

OTE - i'm supposed to be high risk too previous complications plus my heart did funny things at 8 weeks and landed me in hossie on a cardiac ward. I saw consultant while on actual ward and he scanned me at 12 weeks and said everything was normal. a MW booked me in, I went to see the plebotomists at 16 weeks for bloods and my 20 weeks scan is marked at the consultants clinic but nothing about an actual apt just a scan as there is no need t take a urine sample and i have to have an empty bladder. I have no other appointments planned after that so who knows.

Cat - I know a hamish, he is 3 and a finlay. I know many callums but they are all little gits. I like Nairne and Rory/Ruaraidh but worry about a 4 year old learing to spell it

i'm watching baby programs on discovery home and health. I hate american birth programs, everything seems so clinical and medically managed.

I have a preference but I feel so awful about it, we already have a daughter and I have made no secret of letting folks know that I would like a boy as I have lost 3 boys previously. I really don't know how I'm going to feel if they say that I'm having a girl again this time and this makes me feel like the worst person in the world because with I struggle to carry babies as it is. I know I should be grateful that so far the baby seems healthy and I am, I keep putting my feelings down to hormones! Sorry if I've offended anyone but it's good to get it off my chest as it's been getting me down and I can't talk to OH or family about it because I feel embarrassed even to feel like this.

20 week scan today and really nervous about it as I've never had a straight forward scan, there has always been a problem at them, so please keep your fingers crossed that everything is ok with this one.

    morning everyone x

Lilac I felt like that when I had DD and was expecting DS, I did not want a boy but he is lovely, so cuddley and personally I find the boy easier as my girl is stubborn and independent so can be really hard work. DS can be energetic sometimes and gets over excited really easily but he isn't normally hard work. I still would have loved another little girl though but now we know its a boy I'm looking forward to all the cuddles again.

OTE I had booking in at 9weeks, scan at 12 weeks, midwife at 16 weeks (and an extra scan but only cos she couldn't find the heartbeat), consultant at 22 weeks, scan at 23 weeks, midwife at 25 weeks and consultant at 28 weeks. The midiwfe has booked me in for an appointment at 32 weeks, not sure when I'll see the next consultant as I've been referred to the main hospital now so waiting to see, should be reasonably quick if they want me to be monitoring my sugar levels. Have also been referred for a growth scan so waiting to hear when that will be.

Arrghh, I am having a dilemma over names at the moment! Is anyone else? We had a shortlist of names and now hubby is not sure if he likes them!!

We have a longlist still, although I think we both like Alfie the best. We also have Oliver, Sam, Rory, Joe, William and Max!

Sarah - good luck with the scan, don't feel bad about anything you're thinking and remember you can always come on here to vent without judgement.

Lilac - I wanted a boy and apparently we're getting a boy, I've always just thought that a boy would be slightly easier to handle than a girl, especially throughout teenage years, but I guess it all depends on the upbringing.

    EDIT - welcome Peaches!
