  • Hi everyone, i went and did my theory test this morning and i passed. I only have five days now till baby will be here, i am excited, but am also scared now, and panicing that am i ready to have a baby. The time seems to have gone no where. Me and dh went to the hospital yesterday for the pre op appointment, signed the consent form, which scared me as it had the risks written on it and it made it even more real.

Would they be able to see you at the hospital before thursday Rach. Re your dh been in there, we were told that dh would wait outside whilst they did the spinal block and put the drip and got me all ready and they would put the screen up and then they would call dh in. So dh unless he decides to look won't see anything down that end. Is the thought of seeing what the surgeons are doing putting him off?

I have left a message on answerphone for mw, though it just says they will phone you back in office hours, and if it's urgent to phone delivery suite. She is going to ring me monday anyway and I doubt there's much she can do over the weekend so I will leave it to hear from her, if not try first thing monday. For now I will be staying away from curry, RLT, sex and anything else which is meant to bring on labour! No eviction plan here!! I do however feel so much better to know it is all sorted in my head now, just hope they agree, but I presume they can't force me to deliver naturally with all my issues?

Gems - how are you doing?

I am sick of DH being on the ps3 but i guess it will be a lot less when the baby's here. we did just play a board game and he's talking about getting a chinese takeaway tonight to save us cooking. I've come for a lie down as tired after my night time wanderings but car alarm keeps going off outside!

I think so, I did tell him that he wouldn't see anything. He is v squeamish, faints when having blood taken etc! But I think he will come good for me, esp as you say if he can just come in for the delivery bit.

I am in 2 minds whether to get him to come for the appt on thurs (i am going to phone monday and see if they can fit me in tuesday as originally planned though) as it would be good for him to hear things but it is likely to be a long wait and he'll get impatient and stress me out.

Rach my Oh nearly passed out when I had my first, he was supposed to be holding my hands whilst they put in the spinal block, I could have smacked him one its not like they were doing it to him, he said its ok for me I didn't see it. He had to go outside and was brought back in once I was all covered and just stayed head end with me. With the second we knew he was pants and left hm outside till I was laying down and all covered so he couldn't see anything.

I can join you with having a crappy OH this weekend too, so he gets home from work, I've not seen him since thursday and apparently today is a great day for clearing out the garage, never mind the stuff in the house that needs doing. He is treating me to a chinese later to try and cheer me up but is crap to talk to grrr men.

    good luck shelley

I just won a changing bag on ebay, its exactly the type I wanted, I wasn't going to get one but have a bit of HIP grant left just sitting there. Got the kids some printed t-shirts, big brother/big sister ones that I'll give them from the baby the first time they see him too, they are quite good as well, DD is all sparkley with butterflies.
  • Dreambirdie - I am really sorry, and I know it must have been mortifying for you - but I laughed!!! apologies :o:o It's the sort of thing I would probably do! I wouldn't worry too much re the back to back thing, both of mine were apparently and neither of my births were horrific (well DD2 was but for whole different reasons!) BUT baby being back to back is the main cause of waters rupturing without being in labour - apparently - this is what happened to me with DD1, 3 days later before she appeared...

Thinking back the worst bit ever for me was with DD2 my placenta never came away, and the cord had popped of - so the really kind consultant decided to attempt to remove it manually :eek::eek::eek: what a GIT!! was way more painfull than giving birth (imagine huge baby had just departed the foof and he inserted whole hand in :eek::eek:) think he didn't want to take me to theatre because it was about 5am and he finished his shift at 9am and it was his final shift at that hospital!! The MW was horrified that he did it too!

Rach - I know that if I have a C section my DH will be useless - he was down the business end with both DD's but even talking about the epidural he went pale and told me he couldn't talk about it  great use he is going to be!

Labour vibes to those in need - stay put ones for Rach ;)

Who was it that had questions on NCT sales? MV?

Anyway been to our local one today and it was not what I expected! It was manic but we arrived the minute it opened. Huge queue to get in, then you basically just walk around and grab everything you want to buy and the pay for the whole lot at the end! It worked really well though, so a good idea to do it that way. I think you really have to be the first ones in the door to get the really good stuff/bargains. But we managed to get:

    1 winnie pooh grow
    a baby roo set (3 bibs, 1 hat, 1 cardigan, 3 grows, 2 vests, 1 top)
what to expect the first year book.
    all for £6.50

So quite happy that I didn't come away empty handed. I think I'm done for neutral clothes. I think we'll leave anymore clothes for after baby is born.

Lilian, we already have furniture to use in the nursery plus a big built in cupboard in the room. Literally just need the cotbed.

Ooh did I tell you my Lost DVD arrived? I've watched 12 episodes over 3 nights! Plan to watch the last 5 tonight :D

Giz, it was me asking about NCT sales.

As its individuals selling I expected little stalls, somewhat like a boot sale, but the one you went to sounds quite different. Was it fixed prices then?

I was kinda thinking go at the end and see if I can get some bargains, but maybe that's not the best tactic. Was it mostly clothes?

  • If you do have a c section rach, i would see if you dh would go with you for the pre op appointment, will give him a chance to ask any questions that he has and might put his mind at rest.
