Giz, it was me asking about NCT sales.

As its individuals selling I expected little stalls, somewhat like a boot sale, but the one you went to sounds quite different. Was it fixed prices then?

I was kinda thinking go at the end and see if I can get some bargains, but maybe that's not the best tactic. Was it mostly clothes?

This is what I thought. I guess other NCT sales might be done differently. This one had it so that each item had a tag with the sellers number, so I assume they get their money at the end. Sadly it did mean everything was fixed price, but I found most things to be reasonable...can't argue at £1 for the what to expect book.

Everything was organised, all the clothes were either bagged (like a bag of booties for example) or hanging on rails. All sorted into ages and sex. There was definitely more clothes, but there was also toys, books, pushchairs, cots, bouncers and other random bits like carriers, changing bags and baths.

I'd say it was worth going to see what it's like...I'll definitely go again when baby is born, because the clothes were just a bargain (but really need to know the sex). But I won't go to another in the mean time.

I hope your one turns out to be as good as ours.

Gems - how are you doing?

Rach sorry to hear things have gotten more complicated for you, the more i hear from midwives, doctors and consultants the more i think a C-section would be more straight forward for me if i get to 41week and/or bubs is measuring big.
As for your OH and the hospital appointments i would get him to come if he can. Mine hardly came to anything but has been to everything with me in the last 3 weeks and has started taking it more seriously, asking questions and being more helpful and sympathetic. Him having a clear understanding of what could happen and what the options are has put me more at ease.

Im doing ok, some odd twinges but nothing like i had yesterday morning. Feeling tearful tonight and if another person tries to tell me what they think i should do or ask for i think i might hit them. OH's family have been here today and telling me they will be down straight away as soon at bubs is here to 'help' which im dreading!! They mean well but i dont want to come home to a crowded house and people staying. :( Everyone is annoying me and i have my Grandma's 80th birthday party at a big hotel tomorrow which will be full of people i have to try and talk to without crying. :( sorry for the moan!! Im in alot more pain now baby's head is engaged and its getting to me.

Is anyone else really scared their waters will break somewhere really public? im terrified its gonna happen in the posh hotel tomorrow - hubby thinks its a great idea as then he doesnt have to clear it up!!:rotfl:

Cat - you any idea if the antenatal physio is in kings cross now?? I need physio and apt came through today for kingscross :S

Gems - my waters have never went on their own, wear some big pants and a pad for security. OH cousin had twins and they didn't tell anyone they were home for 5 days I found it very amusing because I was in hospital at the time and knew she was discharged but her OH was keeping up the pretence of them all still being in hospital, in my hospital antenatal ward and post natal ward is side by side and you share a tv room thingy so I had went for a walk to find her.

Rach my OH faints when they try get my blood, they usually draw a curtain and get him to sit the other side so he knows im fine and we know he hasn't passed out. With DD1 he cut the cord which we were all shocked at but then he wanted to examine the placenta, strange bloke. He still cannot see them take blood from me.

We have a NCT sale about 15 miles away in November, not sure if i will make the effort to go but if I dont then the next is June type time.

I caved in and used doppler on teapot yesterday, HR is around 150bpm and it was kicking like crazy. OH had a little cry the sap, think it was the first time he has really been convinced that we are getting a baby. Went to view another house yesterday, nice and our favorite so far.

Glad im not the only one worried about the public humiliation of waters breaking.

I have another question, hope you dont mind and sorry if i sound really stupid.... do you always get a 'show' or the plug come away before your waters break or contractions start? and are a 'plug' and a 'show' the same thing?:o

I had my physio at Ninewells (unfortunately) because I'm just beside the physio at Kings Cross! There is physio at Kings Cross, but not sure if they do antenatal - I should find out as I should really go back about my hands, rarely able to feel the ends of my fingers.

Is that the NCT in Cupar? I was going to go to that, I teach part-time in Cupar and know lots of the mums over there, hoping it's worthwhile though!

Any joy on selling your current flat?

Gems - hope that all goes ok tomorrow. Just go home when you've had enough, you have a great excuse and I am sure it will be tiring for you. I have found the pain worse as head engaging too - mw said I am 2/5 engaged.

I think you also have to be v honest about people 'helping'. We have said no one is staying, that we want to get used to being a family together. My mum wants to come down on the day, though DH wants it to be just me and him at the hosp, she will prob stay just one night with the in laws and then is coming back for a week when DH goes back to work, again she'll stay with the in laws. In laws are not at all pushy thankfully and if anything I will have to ask them for help and will be wishing they'd offer more!

Felt awful tonight, I had sent out a text to some close friends, including the one who came down the other day. I used to work with her husband, he is a church minister and a lovely bloke, she had obviously told him and he phoned about 9pm, just as we were settled into watching a Morse on dvd. I didn't mean to be but was a bit short I think, not rude but just didn't want to talk any more about it all, and DH was pulling faces about being interrupted on a sat night! Anyway, sure he will understand, I texted his wife and said I was sorry I was just mentally done in and talked out!

Hi Gems - yes, a plug and a show are the same thing and no you dont always get one. I had one with DD1 but not with DD2.

AND - the only stupid question is the one you dont ask :D
