Well i slept this afternoon and all pain/possible contractions stopped. Just got back from seeing the midwife (it was the rubbish one that never answers any of my questions) and she said the head is engaged and booked me in for a sweep at 40 plus 2 just incase and will book me in to be induced at 41weeks. She also told me it is very very unlikely that they will let me have a water birth if i have to be induced:(
Does anyone know if the fact that the head is engaged means its really likely to happen soon, or can the head be engaged forever and still nothing??
Hi Gems,
Sadly no based on my experience... mine's had it's head engaged the last couple of weeks and no sign yet

I know what you mean - I am so fed up and want baby here now but then on the other hand I can sleep when I want and rest etc.
I so hope this baby is here over the weekend though - if I get another text, fb message, phone call etc asking "any sign?" I will scream. Even oh phoned me this morning and first thing he said was "any pains?" - as if I wouldn't have let him know lol.
I keep getting what feels like contractions but they only last for a few minutes and then stop .
Labour vibes JMF.
Hee hee, keep getting that too! It does get a little weary after a while, and sadly I don't have the energy to think of anything witty to say back.
Currently making myself a curry to see if that will help, also on the RLT and told hubby his luck might be in later - the look on his face was priceless!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Couple of suggestions for text/FB responses:
Q. Any signs?
A. Well I think the big belly is a sign I'm still pregnant.
Q. Having any pains?
A. Just pain in the !!!!! questions.
Q. Have you had baby yet?
A. I've had baby for 9 months and seems comfortable where he/she is.
Q. Are you lookign forward to it?
A. As much as you would look forward to pooing a watermelon.

Gems, what's the reason for being induced at 41 weeks? You don't have to if you would rather avoid being induced...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I shouldn't be here as I'm not pregnant, but just happened to see this and wanted to say that I was told that I could have a water birth with induction if they only use the pessary (which they will try first) and it was only a no if you have to have the drip (or any other risk factors, like meconium in the waters which is why I couldn't have one). I know a few people who were induced and still had water births. HTH.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Well after a few weeks of lurking/occasional posting I am ready to join officially after having my 12 week scan today. it put me at 13+1 due 24th of March, can I be added to the list please?
I noticed a few people mentioned buying/renting a tens, for my 1st i borrowed one from the hospital midwife told me pregnant ladies can borrow one from the physio dept you get it for 4 weeks free of charge (needed a deposit but refundable) worth asking about. I found it useless but friends have found benefits.AKA: PC

Rest in Peace Fred the Maddest Muppet in Heaven0 -
hello all....up with the munchies and a head full of thoughts!
Update on my MW appointment yesterday. After a long wait (which I don't mind as I'd rather her be late and thorough than on time but dismissive!) was all a bit confusing. I reckon I was in there over 30 minutes...
Firstly she looked at the scan measurements and said 'i'm not at all worried now', as they are normal. Then she examined me! And said, basically baby is definitely big and she's really concerned about my pelvis. It's not just the spd (i can now not really even walk with the crutches) but the fact I was already having hip problems on and off (have had 2 x rays in last 5 years) before pregnancy and not only was i born with CDH but my mum's pelvis was the wrong shape for natural birth etc etc. She is also aware of how worried i have been about it all after my sister having such a terrible time with HELLP and my sister in law getting my nephew stuck and having to have pelvis manipulated.
Anyway then she started to ask about when my anaesthetist referral appt was, i really don't remember her saying she was making one, and it's not in my notes, but she is sure she did....having heard nothing I'm not so sure. apparently it was to see if I could have epidural etc?!
So having thought a lot about it since I think all things considered, having spoken to my sister in law and my mum etc I am going to ask for a planned c/section when I see the consultant, I suspect they will recommend it anyway. I'm just v worried as it leaves it v late in the day, I'm 38 weeks now and will be 38+5 when I see the doctor on thurs, so could go into labour before then, in which case I don't know what they would do as there's nothing official anywhere saying i'm having one...so would they make me try for natural or what?!
Think I will try and phone MW tomorrow as I know she is working this weekend, see if she can do anything in the meantime.
Then to top it off when I tried to book next appt in 2 weeks with her at reception they said all 6 appts are gone so would have to see Dr instead...as I'd heard them saying this to other people I was prepared and she'd already said she would see me at home if needs be, but it's pretty sh!tty when I'd be 39+6 to suddenly not be able to see mw. She is only there every 2 weeks but is trying to make it weekly as she says it's really hard seeing everyone, I think that she likes to see people more often than the guidelines, when she thinks she needs to.
sorry for the long post, haven't slept great and have been lying awake for over an hour thinking so thought I'd come on here whilst I ate my cereal!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
