    afternoon

well that didn't go too badly, Lucy was really good and the nurse gave her a teddy bear for being so good, bless. Had to run to pick DS up from school in time though, just got there, he was the last one but there was a child still in the playground so not too late. Come home for a huge lunch and I'm still starving, feel really funny too but I think its a mix of the mucking about with my blood sugars and being overly tired from being up in the night with DD and up early with DS and low blood pressure. I probably won't stop eating this afternoon and going to resort to some TV babysitters so I can nap on the sofa. OH isn't going to be late thankfully, I hope he is home 3-4 ish cos we need to do a shop, I was going to go with just DS but since DD is home too I don't think I can manage them both with the way I'm feeling so gonna go when he is home, at least then if I pass out there is another adult there.
  • glad it was not too bad Merfe - I wondered how fasting would affect the more pregnant body, I felt terrible the last time - was about 15 weeks but still had bad MS, not looking forward to the next one! When will you get your result? Definitely take it easy, TV is a great babysitter!:)

Although I'm happy to be getting the grant, I do see why the Government is scraping it. If they really wanted us to use it to buy fruit & vegetables or join an exercise class they should have given out vouchers rather than cold, hard cash ;)
It shouldn't be called "Health in pregnancy" - it even says in the leaflet that you can spend it on anything you want.

Is anyone else doing the Bizziebaby thing? How does it work?
    What's bizziebaby?

Merfe - glad your test went well. Enjoy eating and sleeping for the rest of the day :)

leopardlady - we're planning on using real nappies too. I've read loads of websites about them. It's quite daunting the different types. I've also watched some nappylady youtube videos which had helped me rule some out.

Take at look at your council website because they might offer incentives. Mine (guildford) doesn't, but they have a free trial pack you can try with different nappies in (you give it back after), so I'm going to request that when baby is born.

I've been recommended to use disposables for the first few weeks which I'm going to do. This will enable me to test out some nappies before spending a load on one type and then finding out they're not for me or baby.

I'm also going to go to a NappyLady demo, she's told me if baby is born I can bring him with me and try out nappies on him.

There is also a voucher in the bounty book for a bumgenius nappy for £3.95 postage.

Hope that gets you started :)

Sammy, if you find out you're having a girl... A little birdie might be selling the pink one... (just the pushchair though, but with extra snack tray and cosy toes...)

Something to bear in mind ;)

Oooh, I will bear that in mind - thank you :)

Giz - I will see if I can find a linky for the Bizziebaby thing.

Just been looking on the Mamas and Papas website and had a mini freak out - nursery furniture, rockers, sleepsuits - sleeves or no sleeves etc etc etc!!!! Its really quite overwhelming!!
  • Hi everyone, can't believe only have a week left till baby will be here. Trying to get some bits done in the house before then. Been pratcising for my theory test, i have it on saturday. Tomorrow i have to go to hospital to sign consent forms etc for c section.

Bit fed up with my mum. As my mum asked me weeks and weeks ago what we would like for baby, she asked twice. So i suggested three things ranging in price, baby monitor been one or a outfit or a snuggle pod so she could choose how much she wanted to spend. She said she would buy snuggle pod and baby monitor. It got to about three weeks ago and had not heard anything else about baby monitor so i texted her last month to see if she was still getting it. Mum said that she would get it next month meaning september and asked us to choose one we liked. I choose three different ones ranging in price as didn't know how much she wanted to spend. Then she asked me to choose one out of the three and i asked if she wanted me to look at one in a shop or on the net. She said that if i saw one on the net then could i order it and she would give me the money. So i had a look on the net and found one that we liked and that would save her money as it had money off. I told her over a week ago now that i had choosen one and the price. She said she would post a cheque to me the next day as she wasn't coming over again to my brothers house that week, this was last week on tuesday. Didn't recieve any cheque last week. I let her know on saturday that we had ordered the monitor and she didn't say anything. I saw her at my brothers on sunday when we dropped my nieces off and she didn't mention it. Over a week later still no cheque. Now im annoyed at why say you are going to get something for baby and then mess us around. When it was my birthday in May she sent me a cheque and then i couldn't cash it until the next month as she had something coming out of the bank. Fair enough but she never does this to my brother or sister.

When we were talking about this monitor a couple of weeks ago, she was out buying my oldest niece school shoes and trainers and youngest niece shoes from clarks. I don't begrudge my nieces their grandma buying them things, its just she always has the money to go out and buy them this that and the other, for example she is buying the oldest niece a bed. Yet we have never expected or asked anyone to buy anything for our baby. We have bought just about everything ourselfs except for a cot mattress that was given to us and some sleepsuits. If she doesn't have the money then why not just say. Yet she knew about this when she was busy spending money on my brothers children. If we had known then i could have done as orginally planned and looked on netmum for one. Im just fed up of my mum favouring time after time my brother and sister and i just know that our baby is not going to be treated equally as my brothers children and i don't mean that in terms of money, i mean more in terms of time.

well I'm not feeling too woozy now so maybe my big lunch just took a little while to get in the system, kids are playing a game called going to bed, they have changed into their pjs, collected up loads of cuddly toys and put their pillows and blankets on the floor - sounds like a fabulous game to me and its keeping them out of trouble.

2girls I didn't feel too bad after the last one but OH had the day off so I could just take it easy, at least with DD home I don't need to worry about popping out for the next school run, back to normal tomorrow. I should get the results on monday at the latest because I have the consultant appointment on monday and if they are not through by then they will phone up for the results.
