  • Hello ladies

Does anyone know if there are any non-painful methods of trying to turn a breach baby at 35wks??? My friend has just been told today and really gutted as she's really been planning a natural birth (fool) :D I did try searching on here, but couldn't really find the right answers.

Thanks Lillac, really helpful. I'll add some of those bits in..will speak to DH about them tonight. Need to read a bit more about forceps/ventouse.
My OH the weirdo wanted to see the placenta, he says its amazing that what looks like a bit of meat stayed inside me and effectivley grew the baby. He is the guy who has to leave the room if they are taking blood from me because he goes woosy.

I hope you don't mind me popping over from the under 12 weeks thread. My stories on there so i won't bore anyone again.
Basically I got a BFP on Mon after a scare on Sat. Not knowing my LMP I gave a rough date which put me at 9+4. However I'm sure I can feel early movements (3rd baby so know that lovely feeling)
I was wondering how early you felt your babies move. I might just be a week out but it could be more.
I def felt my 2nd move earlier but more around 15 week mark.

    Thanks

My OH is the opposite of squeamish, he'll probably be getting in everyone's way for a closer look. When there are medical programmes on the TV, he shouts at it if they linger on the surgeons/patients faces rather than focusing on the nitty gritty of the surgery.

I'm more worried he'll forget he's supposed to be supporting me up the other end!

  • hello

hope everyone is doing well, not a chance to catch up properly on here.

Thought I would update Robin is now 3wks and 1 day old and we are doing well. He now weighs 9lb 6oz, he weighed 8lb when weighed 10 days ago so obv breast feeding agrees with him - suffering from sore nipples but this is where he had a growth spurt and had 2 days and nights over weekend where he fed hrly for 48hrs I was knackered!!

Tried expressing was no problem and Robin had been hit and miss with the bottle he does prefer the real thing.

we registered his birth today so trip into city centre and happily breast fed in waiting room there others were there letting baby cry!

On nappies front we are still in sz 1 and have used about 100 (ish) nappies so far and have another 50 (ish) left to go before moving onto sz 2 - Bearing in mind all sz 1 brands say same size here is what we have found

boots great fit but smallest out of them all so use first if you have brought any - good absorbency can get leakage of poo out back at times

huggies - again one of the smaller ones - great fit like the elastic back so no leakage with these and great for at night if wanting to leave longer (unless poo'd obv changed him then).

Pampers - these are bigger than the above and have been a great fit and good absorbency and again are being used at night for this reason

sainsburys newborn - good fit, slightly bulkier than above, ok absorbency - have used in daytime when changed frequently wouldnt trust at night time

sainsburys eco sz1-2 - ok fit, thinner than above but could notice any other difference so as above

asda own - as good as pampers but havent been brave enough to try for longer periods.

    hope that helps
  • Nic, that early on I doubt you'd feel movements... More likely wind I'm afraid... :)

2nd time around I felt a couple of odd movements from 12 weeks on, but it was more baby rolling over movements than kicks or flutters... This time I'm currently 17+3 and it's only just the past couple of days I could definitely say I've felt the baby moving... And even then, just a a little tickle rather than a movement...

I have had a lot of wind moving around though lol...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Ok, this is where i've got to, happy to have any thoughts or point out anything I've missed. I know it's possible that things will go way differently but it's really just helping me think through it all

Would like my medical issues to be foremost in mind of staff at all times:
    1. Born with Congenital Dislocation of the Hips (on abduction frame and then frog plaster when 6 months old)
    2. History of hip pain in recent years, though have been very keen walker
    3. Developed SPD in mid pregnancy, now on crutches and very immobile. Very concerned about any permanent hip or pelvis damage during labour as job and recreation relies on large amounts of long distance walking.

    Preferences for labour and delivery:
Above all the main concern is that the baby is delivered safely. I would like to be fully informed of what is happening to me and the options available to me. I want all procedures explained to me if possible first.
    • · Birthing partner is husband. I would like him to be with me through all procedures if he is comfortable. Please be aware he is uncomfortable in hospitals and very squeamish therefore is there to support me rather than be at the business end of things! If I have to have an emergency c/section and my husband is not comfortable coming in, stand by will be my mum or mother in law if my mum if one of them is there.
    • · If i do need an emergency c section I would like this to be clearly explained to my husband.
    • · Would like to use TENS machine in first stages (have my own maternity TENS machine)
    • · Would like to have the option of part labour in water, be it pool, bath or shower for relaxation. I do not plan to birth in pool as my husband is uncomfortable with the idea.
    • · Would like to use birthing ball if possible
    • · Happy for heartbeat to be monitored via belt, I am unlikely to be able to be very mobile anyway
    • · Prefer gas and air as pain relief but if I’m struggling/look like I’m struggling would like staff to suggest further options. Would like to avoid pethedine if possible as I understand it can cause feeding problems for the baby.
    • · If epidural is given it is imperative that someone is aware of how far I can comfortably open my legs due to SPD and that this is monitored at all times.
    • · Immediate skin to skin contact, before the baby is cleaned up or the cord cut. Husband does not wish to cut the cord.
    • · Happy for the baby to receive vitamin K injection
    • · I am happy to receive the injection to speed up delivery of the placenta
    • · Intend to breastfeed and will persevere. I would like staff to help me with this if necessary. No formula or bottles to be given unless medically indicated and agreed by me first.

The red bit doesn't make sense.. feeding so short..

Maybe mention cup feeding if baby is desperate and you are recovering from a general anaesthetic.. just in case..

Thanks Freebie. I'm a bit worried about having too many size 1, but when the Huggies Newborn starter kits were on offer in Asda I used a bounty voucher to get the first for 50p and then used the vouchers inside, plus other huggies vouchers, so they were all virtually free. I have 7 packs of 27 Huggies size 1, so 189. I suppose if I don't use them there may be a baby number 2 at some point!
