  • Welshlassie, sorry to hear you need a break. Come back soon...
    MV, glad all went well...
Dreambirdie, I guess it must be difficult when you are about in limbo of almost there and the reality of it all. I am still only just 14 weeks today, (now it's past midnight) and I can't even contemplate holding a baby in my arms yet although right now I am chuffed to bits and looking forward to it but the closer it gets, the more nervous I am sure I am going to get.
I bought a book for friends of ours when they had their first child and she offered the other night to lend it to us when baby comes along as she has said it was just the biz and to be honest I bought it for them as a joke as he is car mad. It was a haynes manual for babies, like the ones you get for cars.
I think I will take her up on it as I suspect it will be funny and cheer me up closer to the time.
I am sure you will be fine and crossed fingers the little one doesn't hang about just too long for you....

    morning x

welshlassie take all the time you need, hope you are feeling better soon xx

MV that's great, you'll be moaning about rib kicks before long hopefully xx

Mine was quite quiet yesterday but DD still managed to feel a kick, so not worried just enjoyed not getting a bashing for that day, I'm sure he'll be back to kicking like crazy today.
  • MV - you must be feeling better after your appointment. I didn't feel mine until about 26wks I think, and its still not really that bad. Never felt kicks in the ribs or anything, just little movements.

    Glad everything's ok MV :)
  • Hope to see you back here soon Welshlassie.

    MV -
    Glad all went well.

Its my due date today and no sign of baby:(. My last 2 were both born on their due dates and I woke up the morning of due date in labour - so I already feel overdue.

Saw the Dr earlier and baby is fine..heard heartbeat :)

she said not to worry, I should start feeling movements soon as we could hear him moving about with the doppler.
    Great news :)

You guys have chatted so much I can't remember anything.

Freebie...thanks for the advice regarding nappies etc. Very useful. I have 81 size 1 nappies and was planning on getting 1 more pack to get the boots changing bag (if I ever get the voucher).

Lilian - thanks for the birth plan link. Will look at that at lunch time.

Well, it was our anniversary yesterday and OH got me a Radley bag, flowers and a TENS machine lol. But bless him, it was the wrong one (not suitable for labour) :o We're taking it back today for a refund.

I wanted to ask on here if anyone could recommend a TENS machine to buy? I had planned on getting the one from Lloyds Pharmacy as its £23.99 plus 20% off voucher. But is it any good?

Got my 20 week scan at 3:30 :s

Glad everything's OK, MV. I think it's hard not to worry about movements. I have fairly regular intervals of movement throughout the day, but then I read about women who say their babies move all the time and worry that mine's not moving enough. You'll soon be moaning that it's kicking you in the foof/bladder/ribs (and loving every minute of it ;))

Good luck for your scan today Giz. And labour vibes ethelsmum (wow, it must be rare to have 2 babies arrive on their due dates!)

Very autumnal here today and the heating came on this morning for the first time.

What are people planning on doing about heating when the baby arrives? Our heating isn't on during the day even though I work from home; last winter I'd just put on an extra jumper and had a little electric heater in the study for the very cold days. We were thinking we'd better have the heating on all day for the baby (it's on a thermostat, so would only come on when the house is cold enough). But then I'm thinking the baby will probably spend most of the daytime in the living room, so is it really necessary to heat the whole house? I could just put the fire on for a bit if need be.

  • Hi all

Dont know if anyone remembers me, I briefly introduced myself a few weeks ago before going on holiday. Well, got back from holiday on weds and ended up in a&e last night with suspected dvt, had bloods done that came back high whatever that means so had to have two blood thinning injections which bloody hurt like hell and then sent home to wait for a phone call from dvt clinic. Just had the call and they are scanning me at 2pm today. I feel ok in myself but my legs are very heavy and I can feel what feels to me like the muscle spasming or something moving around but im probably just more aware at the moment. The redness has spread quite a bit overnight so I guess I'll just have to wait for later. This is so !!!!!!. Has anyone been through this? Im 16 weeks tomorrow.

Sorry for the downer post, dont really feel like talking to people in real life at the moment : (

due march never had that, hope it goes well at the scan today hugs xx

Good luck for later giz x

big bird I don't intend to change how I heat the house at all, I think I have the thermostat set for about 16 degrees so it'll come on if it drops below that. Previously with the other two we only had electric heaters and would just use them for an hour or two if it was really cold. Baby can still use blanket, hats etc to keep the warm in I think the rule is they need one extra layer than you but also I'd be more concerned about overheating than them getting cold, they will let you know if they are too cold. We have used things like a hot water bottle in the moses basket for 20 mins before they are going to bed, to warm up the mattress and blankets and mine have never woken in the night from being too cold. My grandma told me when I had my first that she once took my aunt to the doctors because every morning her fingers were blue and they couldn't afford any heating and it was a cold old house, the doctor was not concerned and said they would just go back to pink as she warmed up, aunt is fine by the way so doc was right not to be concerned and I think houses are warmer nowadays with the extra insullation etc.

I'm having a sad day today, my stepdad popped round this morning on his way to work to let me know my grandad passed away in the early hours. Mum was already on her way up to visit because he went into hospital yesterday but she didn't get there in time to say good bye :( It is really sad but also he has been really ill for a long time so its not unexpected I just don't know how grandma is going to cope now.
