  • Hey everyone, havent had time to catch up on the thread but will do tomorrow.. just have a wee question- I read in my pregnancy book that after my 20 week scan i have to make an appointment to see my 'midwife' at the surgery at 25 weeks- im on shared care(Hospital/ doctors surgery) I managed to get an appointment next Weds when i'll be 25 weeks but the only problem is my surgery doesnt have a midwife.... so ill be seeing the doc instead.

My question is: can the doc give my the MB1 form for my employer and the form for £190 grant? Im starting to worry and probably should have sussed this out before?

    Can anyone help?

  • i think the doctors should have the forms there if theres no midwife there to fill them in

theres a bit on this website that says if the docs dont have the forms they will send one to your doctor for them to complete

    Morning all x

Had 14 week appointment at m/w yesterday for bloods. I declined the triple test. Has anybody else declined to have it done?

    Good luck MOTM.

Hitchins i also declined it didnt really see the point as i wouldnt of got the amnio to find out for sure.
  • I decided I wouldn't have had the amnio, but had the blood tests done. They tried to talk me out of it, saying it was a waste of time if I wasn't going to have the amnio, but I just wanted to know how high my risk factor was, so I could at least my prepare myself. As it goes it came back really, really low risk anyway.

We declined for both pregnancies. The first time because we would have had the baby regardless of the result from the blood test and and amnio. The second time we were going to have it done and then changed our minds the day of the test. I initially thought because we already had one child I would like to be more prepared should this second have any special needs, but realised I'm the type of person that would spend the rest of my pregnancy worries about the level of special needs and it would stress me out unnecessarily so as we would continue with the pregnancy anyway again declined it.

plymouthgirl my midwife was really careful about swaying me either way, because i did say to her, is there any point in getting it done if i wont have an amnio - and she said it was completely my decision and she couldnt advise me either way? then when i said no i didnt want it she told me that the uptake of the test is quite low? i thought it would be higher since they dont offer nuchal scans etc.

welshlassie im the same i would of spent this pregnancy worrying about something that was only a risk. plus they cant test for every illness/disability a baby may have, so whilst i hope and pray that my baby is happy and healthy, i know that not all babies are. my sister has quite severe learning disabilites so i do feel a lot more prepared for that anyways. but at the same time i understand why people do want to find out for sure, as it is not any easy task to bring up a child with extra care needs etc, and i understand that some people would want to prepare themselves mentally beforehand.

i really really dont want to go to work today! in fact i should be getting dressed now, but im sat on here trying to think of ways to get out of it :rotfl:

p.s huge big foot has went down to semi-normal size :j woohooo :D
