..oh and a quickie (another one!
)..
I have to have the fasting glucose test for gestational diabetes (not sure if I've spelt that right!).
Has anyone else had it? I have to fast for 24 hours and then drink loads of Lucozade and have blood tests over a number of hours...sounds just grand!

Hi all
Ended up leaving the house at 6.45 and now feel like I’ve done a whole day’s work! Had to buy a bacon sandwich on my way to the office from the bus as I was so hungry after having breakfast at 5am!! Cue me in an east end greasy spoon which was full of men…all looking at me as if I was about to give birth there and then!
Bump has really dropped now and I’m seriously waddling! No one will believe I still have over 4 weeks left!
I am currently on hold to the IT service desk to try and sort out what happens to my emails when i'm away!!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Of all the couples with loads of boys all after a girl only 1 couple managed it cause they were rich and went to the US for PGD (sex selection) still took a few goes though, the rest all had more boys, one cried her eyes out when she saw the little winkie on the scan screen. So according to the doctors last night with your history of 7 girls your chance of a boy is very slim I'm afraid, but not impossible.
 I hold onto the hope. Thanks for the insight. Whatever happens, i'll be happy.twoflower169 wrote: »MotM - Hope it goes ok friday.

Hope you all have nice days.0 -
KitKat Huge Congrats Theo is beautiful :j
I am in a bad place at the moment so won't bring others down but just wanted to say Huge Congrats to new arrivals and progressing bumps.
Take care ladies :A
Wait another 5 days and you can take over from me properly;)
If you want to chat to someone who has spent most of their pregnancy in the "bad place" you know where I am:)
Pizza hut buffet today.... but will I make it??? Had lots of contractions last night but not regular. It'll be just my luck that I'm stuffed full of pizza and I go into labour... they cut me open and all they'll see is pizza!!:o:rotfl:BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -
I don't think I'll be doing this again - statistically its unlikely I'd get the opportunity anyway. Even though I'm feeling fine now, I just don't feel like my body is my own to do with as I wish!
I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with having an only child - certainly won't be spoiling it.
I'm also finding all the medical attention a little overbearing. Seem to get told one thing is fine and then something else isn't. Yesterday, all was good on my 20 week scan, now today the midwife has called and I need more blood tests as I have enlarged red blood cells. So back to the surgery again tomorrow.
There is nothing at all wrong with an only child...my hubby and I are both only childrenI think I'm alright. Hubby was spoiled and it shows at times. I consider myself to have been lucky with what I had (holidays etc that other kids didn't get), but my parents didn't buy me things for no reason and I had my fair share of second hand stuff.

I had it at 28 wks due to my BMI being slightly higher than the "normal" range. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be - make sure you've got a book/magazines etc though as I had to wait 2 hrs in the antenatal waiting room between drinking the lucozade/having 1st blood test and having the 2nd blood test.0 -
Tinks, tell us what's wrong, you won't bring us down, we're here to support each other (((hugs)))
MV - I had the test but results were fine. Next time I'd decline it and have the random finger !!!!! tests instead.
mine wasn't lucozade it was just glucose in a gross plastic cupMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

I've had this twice now, it's not that bad.
When you get to the hospital after fasting, they will take a blood sample.
You'll be given a drink that is syrupy lucozade, it's very sickly and you will feel your teeth rotting as you drink it. If you can, down it in one and get it over with.
You'll then be sat around for two hours while it makes it way through your body and then they'll take another blood test.
Take a book or some magazines to pass the time.0 -

Hi all, missed a few posts so will catch up but did see gorgeous Theo's pics - he is lovely! Congrats Kitkat
Have been absent as my laptop has decided that the hard drive is going to fail!:mad: Having to borrow a computer occasionally for emails and updates on here so may not be around too much - can't afford to replace it just yet so will be saving up to get a little netbook or something hopefully.
Best wishes to all and labour vibes/stay put vibes to those who need them.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
