Gems they are rather hit and miss, we have a nice one here, but some are a pain. They do like you to meet them in pregnancy though. We've been lucky, the one we've got (the area our surgery covers is large so has a few) is the part time one who rarely takes on new people.

Fingers crossed you get a good one x

She is doing very well, everyone is spoiling her rotten! No one can quite believe how much hair she's got, all my others looked like Casper the friendly ghost until they were at least one and then the hair was fine and wispy :rotfl:

Re: Health visitors it depends I think. If this is your first I think they visit a few times just to check that you're feeling OK. My first was 8 years ago so I'm digging deep to remember what I can and things might have changed since.

I've never met a health visitor in pregnancy and they've only ever done 1 home visit per pregnancy and then referred me to the clinic for weighing.... Maybe it depends on your area?

Sharkey, drinking lots can be a sign of diabetes so make sure you mention it to the midwife! The pains could be the baby growing and your ligaments stretching to accomodate it...

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

with my first I saw the HV once a week for 3 months and thought it was normal (I didn't know any different), I now realise it was because she lost quite a bit of weight between hospital and that first visit.

I can only remember seeing the HV once or maybe twice for DS and then they said I could go to the clinic and they came back round for his yearly check and I got an appointment for his 2 1/2 year check up too.

I have never seen a HV in pregnancy but I wonder if its because I've jumped the queue both times or maybe they just aren't bothered here about the meeting beforehand part.

Last night I dreamt the babys head was sticking out my tummy like when you can sometimes see a hand or foot, then at work he popped out my tummy - there was no blood. Very scary weird dream.

I'm really miffed now. After my high praise of Mamas and Papas yesterday....it turns out there is a 30% sale starting today on all maternity clothes :( Do you think if I took them back they would take the money off? That would save me about £40.

    morning all

I've not heard anything about HVs. DH is determined that he doesn't want people like that noseying around (he's so bl00dy awkward)!!

Not feeling great after broken sleep. Totally in 2 minds about work, think I've decided to do the work I brought home, which will probably take most of the morning, and see how I am after that. I can either do more or just do nothing or even call in sick then if I feel any worse. I don't know why I am so worried about getting everything done though. They've still not confirmed any cover for me, I've forced the issue by raising a purchase order for the guy to do one day a week on the work no one else can cover, but I'm not convinced they will sign it off. Seeing as they have ignored numerous emails and attempted conversations we decided to just bite the bullet and raise the order.

DH seems to be worried about my sick record if I end up looking for another job, but in reality I've had 5 days off sick in the last 14 months, plus another 7 pregnancy related, which isn't a lot. And by the time I was looking for a new job the year would be over anyway.

DH has an informal chat about a new job next week, not sure what I think as he'd really decided not to look anymore, but the recruitment woman phoned about it. It's about £5k more with 25% pension contributions!!! As neither of us have a pension that's obviously pretty good. Decided he should go and meet them and see, sounds like it wouldn't be highly stressful so may be ok.

Sorry for the self indulgent twaddle...obviously this is what's all been playing on my mind all night!

are they in the sale? If so i'd take them back and rebuy them at the cheaper price (if you've got the tags!)
