No links there :) I was advised the same thing and also have 3 packs. Sorry about the way you were treated on the train.

That reminds me, Make it 3, you said (think it was you) that your anti-disposable...does this mean you plan to use reusables when out about? Can you explain to me what you do with them if you're out for a day? I only ask because I can't smell and I think I'd be paranoid that they'd be smelly.
Sorry, was writing in notepad! Have added the links in now!

In terms of the nappies, I've bought a wet nappy bag, this one, you just shove the nappies in there to wash later and the bag can be washed too. It's a nice size, not too big or too small!

Hi Rach. I'm ok to let on a few more detials now. Have been keeping a bit quiet in case any work colleagues are reading this. I'm an archaeological surveyor. It means that I spend about half my time in the office playing with computers and doing fancy stuff with data, and the other half of my time visiting sites and using fancy equipment to collect the data. I visit all sorts of sites - urban, rural, construction, demolition, motorways, mines etc etc. Recently I've been working by the side of the M25 on junctions 18-29 (wave next time you're stuck in the roadworks!).

I've been able to drop some of my jobs as they involve carrying heavy equipment or whacking wooden stakes into the ground. And there are some sites I can't visit due to contamination risk or lack of toilets or distance from my house. It's all in my RA, which is great.

Hope that all makes sense. Feel free to ask for any more info.

Just watching the Great British Bake off. Yummy :D
wow, sounds fascinating! You def needed that RA then!

  • Smartie good to see you have a date, looks like I'll be ahead of you . . if you go into labour do they still give you a section??

Rach sounds like I could add a few stories to your book too, since I've finished work I've driven everywhere kind of down to that reason . .

SamCam had all her bubs by section, so must have been planned that way but I guess she would have been booked in somewhere else.

Good luck catwoman with your interview, I'm sure it will be fine.

Back to hospital tomorrow for fetal assessment, then maybe a scan and maybe consultant and then who knows, depends on my b/p, urine and blood tests and if baby is growing enough I guess. Think will be a long day so will take a book with me.

Good luck to FQ & MLSL for tomorrow

    MAHOOSIVE labour vibes for KK

Hugs and Congrats to all the new babies - there seems to have been lots

Also a little worried about tinks - checked her FB and nothing - GET ON HER GIRL AND LET US KNOW YOU ARE OK

Smartie - cant wait to hear you have met your little imp :p

Apologies to anyone I forgot (of which I am sure there are many :o)

My question - had my 28 week appointment today at hospital as I was having my anti D anyway - She didnt measure my bump and I forgot to ask her to , however, my BP was 138/73 (higher than last time and appears to be creeping up each check) and there were keytones / protein in my urine!!

Now, MW said BP wasnt high and there was nothing to worry about and the urine sample probably indicated a UTI (they have sent it off and results will go to GP) for which I most likely wont need anti b's for anyway as I started a course yesterday for a tooth abscess so if there is one present they should take care of that also.

I'm not usually one to worry if a medic tells me not to but thats it appointment wise for me until 34 weeks and to be honest I'm not too happy - any thoughts?

TigTag - you can always just book another appointment with the midwife inbetween, I'm sure she wouldn't mind

    I hope Tinks is ok

    Morning all.

I got home last night to a letter advising me that our 16 week bloods show a high level of AFP and therefore bubs has an increased risk of Spina Bifida. We've been booked in for a detailed scan and consultantant appointment tomorrow afternoon. I know the risk is still quite low and hopefully the scan will confirm all is ok without the need for an amnio. Just wondering if anyone else has been through this?
DH was very stressed about work last night so stupidly I didn't tell him which means I'm carrying this alone today at work. Will tell him tonight of course.

I have an event i'm organising at work today so was here by 8am. I'll be shatterd by the time we finish at 5! Think I might work from home tomorrow as well as Friday as nothing in my diary that I need to be in the office for.

Anyway enough waffle from me, will try and pop back later to see how people are getting on.x

sorry about your news claire. As rach says at least the scan is very soon, so hopefully not too much stressing to do. What is AFP btw? I wish I could help. Could you not call the midwife for a chat if you need to?

I have a question regarding Maternity Leave. I learnt on here that you can tack you holiday earnt during maternity leave onto the end...

My mat leave will run from 4th January with theholiday year running from 1st April to 31st March. So I would have built up some holiday entitlement.

If I was to ask nicely if I could tack the holiday on the end (or some of it), what would happen if I wasn't to come back? Do I lose that holiday, or do I still get paid for it?

Tigs I was going to quote you but got freaked out by all the colours that came up :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I had significant ketones (+++) and proteins in my last wee test. MW asked if I had been vomiting, as it is a sign that your body is having to break down fats as bubs is not getting enough

This was last week, and they have sent a sample off. No idea what is going to happen about it, but on reflection realised that I have my tea about 6pm, then brekkie about 8am, so 14 hours is too long really.

Taken to having a snack (yoghurt/crackers) at about 10pm before bed, and bought some ketone testing sticks from the chemist. Took about 3 days, but they are now back to normal!

Could be coincidence, but hope it helps xxxxxxx
