hi, depends on the rules of the mag/site, some are 1 entry per household, some are more than 1 entry for different email entries but from the same household, usually best to check with the sites t&c's hth x

ok can someone maybe explain please.....im fed up of feeling behind with comps, so after the last 4-6 weeks of ignoring most all aside fomr regular comps and the odd page of newly posted ones i last night decided to seriously tackle them and try and keep caught up to that point form today on if that makes sense......

so i didnt change the view fomr standard, aware that that would mean some comps would be bumped and mixed in with new comps but thats ok.

except this afternoon there were 10pages or so of new threads or newly bumped threads that i need to catch up on today. this evening thats about 15 pages....but again that makes sense.

what i cant figure out is why say on page 12 there are about 10 (guessing numbers here) new comps interspersed with comps i entered earlier/yesterday. they ahvent been bumped as theyre still only the OP and no replies...so why are they all mixed in like that?

clearly im doing something wrong. i seem to remember having the same or similar issues when i used the new post view thingy (instead of end date view). whihc is why i keep reverting back to end date view, at least then the comps are in some sort of order and i can work through pages without every 2nd or 3rd one i open being one i entered a few hours ago.

any ideas just what im doing wrong that is getting them all mixed up like that (am i even explaining ina remotely understandable way?)

What I did to catch up earlier this year was

start off by going to end date view, and do the comps ending on tomorrows date, and do those, if I had time, I would also do the day afters as well. Then I would go to the new topics view, and do all the ones for the day you are on.

eg. tomorrow is 18th August, so I would forget that date ((or time permitting) skim through for any I particularly liked) and then start and do all the ones ending on the 19th instead. When I had done those, I would go to New Topic view, and do all the ones which had been posted on the 18th August starting from midnight.
If I had time, I would maybe do 2 or 3 days on ending dates. It took about 2 weeks to catch up, but it gets easier, as you will be doing quite a lot of the ending date ones in the new topic view.
In between this, I also tried to do a page or 2 of the ones ending on the last day of the month, as there are hundreds usually on the 30/31st.
Hope this makes sense, but it does work


Also the daily subscription to the comps board seems to be working properly for me again - so that will pick all the new posted ones from the previous day.


I'm going to be in the same boat shortly, away from 1st Sept for about 6 weeks. So will be fun catching up again.

if you have selected "Sorted by last post time" could it be that some of the comps that you entered yesterday have been bumped and have gone further up the page list

while the ones that you haven't entered that haven't been bumped have stayed in the same place or even gone lower down the page list ?

if you are using firefox you could try downloading the links into bookmarks see #208

thanks fundire.....thats what ive been trying to do since i started comping...end date then time permitting new comps. but i was never getting anywhere and this past 4-6 weeks, like i said, ive not even tried to keep up. it was taking all my time to get through the ones ending the next day, or if id had a really good spell i would be 2-3 days ahead of myself to allow for a day where i had no time at all, and then i was mostly skipping all comps form 27/28 of the motnh to 1st of next month...again in an attempt to keep ahead of myself and recognising that 50plus pages of comps all ending on 30/31 were never gonna be doable in one day.

hence the trying entering them as they are posted. xcept ive bene here all afternoon and still cant get nearer page 1 than page 12, which like i say every tiume i refresh has more new comps mixed in with the commps ive already entered. and not in a row at the top as if they are all newly posted, which i would kind of expect...but actually mixed through so every 2nd or 3rd comp down is a new one ive not seen but the others are ones i entered earlier/last night.

its not improtant, ill go back to end date....i was just getting incredibly annoyed at a) missing all the comps that people dont add to dailies/weeklies until the day they end overall and b) always having to skip days because i hadnt had time. theoretically entering them as they ar eposted would mean i can just work back form where i last was on the board and it wouldnt matter so much if i missed a day......

the daily subscription generally tells me there have been 200plus new threads and however many updated since last one...think id go mad opening 200plus links form my email lol, i use multi links to scroll down a page and open them all at once

Yeh very pleased,

quite surprised that they decided to do so as quite a bit of revenue would have been generated by the comps forum

They would have probably lost a lot as well from all the people who downloaded ad block plus, thus stopping any revenue from other links used.
