it appears that board tracker only tracks my activities on mse? which is fine, its a public forum and the find all recent posts/posts started by gives anyone access to my activity on here.
what i dont like is the idea that it might track me from one website to the next, so mse to facebook to lj to mse to other forums....thats not possible right?
i know they can tell what page i came from so if i go lj to mse, mse admin can see i came from lj but if i go lj, google, mse then mse can only see i came from google right?0 -

try posting on the techie board? the users there may be able to help or may know who the correct techie person to contact would be.
sinc ei last checked my emails yesterday ihave had 5 saying there ahve been posts in this thread. there have been more posts than that, but i wonde rif they have set it up to only send one email an hour or only send when you dont have mse open or something perhaps.0 -

thanks purplecatlover, I'm not getting an instant email notifications at all  I've emailed a couple of techie bits on MSE, and am now going to unsubscribe all of my threads  and try to re-subscribe and see if that rectifies things. I'm not holding out much hope though#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

Yes it is possible Google Analytics which is used by the vast majority of web sites including MSE can track your movements across the web as it logs your unique ip address
example: I am moving soon so I went online to my local housing benefit office to download a form for housing benefits and they also use Google Analytics, small bit's of data like this can be accumulated and can form a bigger picture when they check on other sites that have been visited
one other thing that not many people know is that each unique ip address can be traced to a given area so they already know roughly where everyone lives!
don't believe me click on this link
http://www.tracemyip.org/
government agencies have even more sophisticated software and they can virtually pinpoint each unique ip address to within a few houses of where you livePersonally Identifiable Information (PII), as used in information security, refers to information that can be used to uniquely identify, contact, or locate a single person or can be used with other sources to uniquely identify a single individual. The abbreviation PII is widely accepted, but the phrase it abbreviates has four common variants based on personal, personally, identifiable, and identifying. Not all are equivalent, and for legal purposes the effective definitions vary depending on the jurisdiction and the purposes for which the term is being used.
Although the concept of PII is ancient, it has become much more important as information technology and the Internet have made it easier to collect PII, leading to a profitable market in collecting and reselling PII. PII can also be exploited by criminals to stalk or steal the identity of a person, or to plan a person's murder or robbery, among other crimes. As a response to these threats, many web site privacy policies specifically address the collection of PII, and lawmakers have enacted a series of legislation to limit the distribution and accessibility of PII.
nearly everything that we do is logged somewhere on a computer, goverment agencies using supercomputers can access and sift through all of this piecemeal information and put it together to form a complete picture,
as computers are becoming more and more powerful criminals are also using the same information that is readily available on the web to aid them in breaking the law
how right was George Orwell when he wrote his novel "1984" way back in 1949 when he said "Big Brother is watching you!" and everyone would be under complete surveillance by the authorities0 -
Is anyone else out there having trouble with their instant email notifications from threads?? I've tried everything I can think of .... reconfirmed instant email confirmation, taken them all off, and subscribed to certain threads again with instant email confirmation, still not working
I tried finding out in discussion forum and have email tech support, any other ideas folks

Hi Guys,
I'm off to V Festival next weekend!
Some selected Virgin Media customers were offered the chance to enter to win tickets for the "Hidden Garden" area within the festival (basically nicer loo's, and under covered seated area!)
I have Meniere's disease which is not a hindrance enough to warrant me requesting a full disabled ticket (possibly preventing someone more needier of the privileges the ticket entails than me) - but I would really appreciated the opportunity to have somewhere to sit in intervals when needed!
I am actually a Virgin Media customer but unfortunately was not successful in my application!
If anyone has a ticket they shan't be using (Its a paper-less e-ticket sent via mobile phone displaying a barcode) I would be ever so grateful to you if you could kindly forward this to me.
Please let me know if you can help & I'll PM you my mobile number!
Thanks in advance
With Best wishes
