Thanks for the replies and thanks for merging with the other thread penny, I'll have a good long look through the tread later after tea :)

Bolognese sounds a good idea, not thought of that and I like the look of your recipe madnotstupid so I'm going to give that a try.

  • We've got a LOT of mince to eat up in the freezer, but are so bored of spag bol, cottage pies and burgers. Any suggestions for what we can do? I'm gluten free, which doesn't help....grrr.
  • We made Turkey Mince Koftas (BBC recipe) they were fantastic (other mince will work too!) and Pork Mince tortillas (not sure if this is gluten free or not??) another BBC recipe both lush. I'm allergic to beef, lamb, veal etc. so we tend to use pork, turkey and chicken mince as substitute (mum also owns a rare bread pig farm which helps!!)

Moussaka? You can replace the white sauce in the topping with something like yogurt

    Chilli?

What kind of mince are you having to use up? Is it all beef?
  • Sorry haven't got a clue what gluten free is, but what about meatballs?

    Or, beef wellington.

Hi Vics, there is a really good thread - more exciting things with mince. You should find heaps of yummy ideas in there.

Here is a recipe I've yet to try - it is apparently yummy though

    Spanish rice

    1lb mince
    half an onion
    tin tomato soup
    tin choppped toms
    packet of savoury rice

Brown mince and onion in a pot. Add everything else, plus a tin of water. Simmer for about 20 mins. Serve with crusty bread !

If you try it let me know, my Mum got it off a nurse in work, because she had brought it in for them

Edit - brain dead. I think above recipe contains gluten....
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Keema curry? It's mince with peas - usually lamb, I think, but I've used beef before and it works fine. It's obviously dependent on gluten-free curry powder / paste, though, and I don't know how hard that is to get hold of, I'm afraid.
Back after a very long break!

    You can make tacos.

Or we use (veggie) mince in fajitas.

Or you can do beef chilli nachos & dips as a shared dish for everyone to pick at.

(Can you tell I love tex-mex food?!)

Or what about cornish pasties (with beef) or any type of pie etc you like.

I always make moussaka with greek yog as a topping-mix with eggs and feta cheese like this (or just parmesan without feta but it really adds something )
its really nice and it freezes well. No gluten in it either :D
