Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me any hints here! I am back to the land of the late shift this wk and have been a very good girl cooking this morning so that no-one starves while I work. I whipped up a batch of chili, a cottage pie, sweet & sour chicken & veg, and a corned beef hash for the freezer, and noticed that my freezer mainly consists of mince, mince and mince.....I think I had a mad moment in Mr A when it was on offer at a stupid price, the only thing is that my brain doesn't go beyond spag bol, chili, cottage pie etc.....is there anything else that you can do with mince (ie cook n freeze into a dish for when I am not about) as I don't want to put my son off with spag bol overkill!! I would appreciate any tips that anyone can give me.....I was also v. proud of myself when I totalled up these four meals pricewise and didn't even come to a fiver.....makes all the yellow sticker shame in the supermarket worthwhile0

Argh... Gem got there before I did with my cunning ideas...Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

you can make meatballs and/or burgers.
Some mince, some breadcrumbs, an egg to bind and then shallow fry until cooked and then refreeze for quick heating up.0 -
Thanks for the quick responses everyone!
Tessie...how do you make a top for the cobbler? and can you freeze it etc? if not I take it it will be ok in the fridge?? I'm sorted for this week.. but planning for the next one (unless I get the job I'm going for on weds) and also Gem, how do you make your curried mince pilaf thing...that sounds like the type of interesting dinner that my mince is crying out to be made into!! The asda mince idea was great to get a load and stash it, until I find my well meaning pensioner mother on the doorstep a couple of days ago, wide smiling beam on her face after her and my dads weekly shop going "look, they had mince going cheap so I cleared the shelf for you!" bless her......

there's probably an official one but my version is this:
diced onion
mince
peas
curry powder or paste or mix of cumin, coriander, curry etc
boiled rice.
just fry all ingredients, then mix and continue frying with boiled rice until all flavours mix together.
you may need a bit of liquid,eg:water, stock, tomato juice.
my mum adds raisins, diced apple, segments of satsumas etc
the sweet goes lovely with the curry taste.

Hi katylou,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to the main thread with mince recipes that should keep you going for a while.

Hello peeps I hope you are all fab and groovy
So I'm basically bored with mince, I do sheperds pie, spag bol, lasagne, meatballs and burgers, is there anything else to cook?
OH is a bit fussy so pasta is a no no (yep I know I know lasagne and spagetti are but I've managed this over a few years)
