Thanks BB, I have a friend that knows the head at Hamworthy very well and I know that its a school that is definitely making progress. I guess Im being picky to some degree, actually all I want is that she goes to a local school so that she can make friends and have friends local to play with. If she ends up at a school 10 miles away I can't see that happening. Also tbh by the time ive driven to hamworthy across poole its probably going to take me the same sort of time as it would to get to Dorchester.

Anyway I shall see how we go with the commute this week and the effects it has on B..end of the day if her school work is suffering then Im going to have to come up with a plan asap

Day 1 down and it was hard getting up this morning...its only going to get worse as it gets darker in the mornings :(

B didn't want to go to school again and was quite teary as I left her.

Its been a stressful couple of days, with R and his DD....she has been very upset and naughty which we kind of expected to happen at some point. The routine she was used to has changed and its unsettling...it also turns out we think she is starting puberty at 8 OMG...hormones are raging and will be a nightmare, poor girl!

Not much else to report...things VV Good with me and R :):)

how did i miss this diary! Thought you had been quiet.

Sally, Chloe didn't get into the school I wanted to and she is now going to what is generally considered the 'rough' school. However, I had a chat with the headteacher of the school she didn't get into and she basically told me there is no point in appealing - they are just a show of doing the right thing. She also said that the school is living off a reputation it had years ago and the school is very good.

So she is going there, I have to admit to being very impressed so far. My other three went to what is generally considered the best in the area and I was so disappointed with the pastoral care that they were given as opposed to the education (although I think if they had been given more care they would have been more willing to learn)

I have to be honest and say I probably didn't help with my somewhat snobby attitude but still I think more could have been done. I think what I am trying to say - is this is one of the hardest things a child has to go through but even sending a child to a good school doesn't always do it. I think B will make the most of whatever she has.......

as long as she has her mummy...xxx

good luck with the stepmum thing....don't forget what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

  • Aw I'm sure things will settle down. Don't envy you with a hormonal 8 year old though - a friend of mine has two daughters who both started all that at the same time (I think they were about 9/10 and 11/12) - scary!!

Sammy for me the pastoral care is far more important, and the school she is at at the moment has just had ofsted and got a good where all the other schools in Dorchester are outstanding...I still would choose where she is now over the others. My main issue really is the travelling distance and locality to home. I don't see the point in having to send her to a school 10 miles away which will still take me 40 mins in rush hour to get to and not really be able to make local friends with. She may aswell stay where she is.

Hows chloe getting on at school, is she enjoying it so far? Have you got any pictures of her in her uniform?

squizz the hormones are going to be a nightmare...me and her together lol
