  • I moved my RBS Current Account to the Dunbar branch as it's straight along the A1 from me and I've spent many days out there. Although RBS is not my main everyday current account.

I wish I moved it to Gretna Green for a laugh but I wasn't thinking at the time. :p

You're wrong on that point. Drummonds has exactly the same products as RBS and the way I see it will effectively be the only English RBS branch.

I've switched my account to there recently.

I suspect that there is a glitch with online applications allowing accounts to be opened with that sort code

I doubt that low worth key account applicants would be welcomed in branch ;)

Holts are part of Drummonds and their accounts certainly differ from RBS's mainstream offering http://www.rbs.co.uk/holts/apply.ashx

Even if that is the case you can open an account in Scotland and all will be fine.

Drummonds isnt leaving at all at any cost to RBS. They havnt been forced to sell it.

Holts is for the military and therefore I would expect that the bank have different methods of looking after them. Thety might not have the best history because they are moving about so much. However their income is reliable and safe.

I shall open an account at the Shetland branch, then transfer over all of my stuff to it, then close the account in England - Can't be dealing with Santander

  • Do all the individual branches get to know that some random person at the other end of the country has opened an account at there branch over the internet? Do they get a paper copy of your account information or something?

    :rotfl:

They will know if they've looked in the right place.
  • I have found both RBS Central Customer Services and my current branch useless in trying to escape Santander..but a quick phone call to Edinburgh St Andrews branch and a very helpful lady seems to have got the ball rolling.
