All of this seems to have gone very quiet recently
I've note had anything after sending the form back. Any news on this or the transfer of the branches to Santander ??0 -
I shall open an account at the Shetland branch, then transfer over all of my stuff to it, then close the account in England - Can't be dealing with Santander
I'll do that next time I open a bank account haha. But nah.. my natural choice would be Edinburgh even though I don't live there anymore. My grandmother still lives there though
Santander is a disease and it spreads quickly.0 -

I had an acknowledgement but nothing since.
On the original form it said the transfer of customers accounts would take place in September 2011. Any one know if that is still the case? I emailled RBS but didnt get a reply- branch staff dont have a clue... I'm not sure they understood what I was asking.God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
I think staff are very restricted as to what they're allowed to say.0

I looked up the Gretna branch using a "well known search engine" and rang the number. The phone call was re-directed to a call centre in Edinburgh. I asked to open a savings account at Gretna and explained the reason for doing so. I was informed that Gretna may get transfered to Santander and was reccomended to look further North. In the end he suggested Dumbarton and so I have an account in a town that I have no connection with and never visited. Everything was done over the phone. I am glad I am not the only one who has done this.0

Does it matter which Scottish branch really? There is no one thing I could think of that I could do in my branch but couldn't do in any other branch.
I hardly visit any branch anyway.0 -

I phoned the helpline last Friday and was told that a letter would be sent out in the next few weeks and that the transfer of accounts had been put back from September but will still happen before the end of this year.God save the King!

Right so if I want to keep my RBS account with its nice £2500 overdraft limit that they have never changed since I was a student I need a transfer to a scottish branch. What if I do nothing and they give me to santander do I get to keep my current terms? Also does the scottish branch have the thing where you can ring up and have someone who's not in a call centre deal with you like you can now? Also why are santander so badly thought of?0

RBS now put you through to a Scottish based call centre when you phone your branch number. I got a letter about it a few weeks back.
I'm with a Scottish branch already.0 -

Basically they're useless. There're are dozens (possily hundreds?) of posts on here detailing their failings.0
