RBS switch - which Scottish branch have you decided to transfer to?

Received my transfer request form through the post today.

Now having to decide which branch i would like to switch to so i can move my English account to a Scottish branch.

The branch i have requested to switch to is St Andrews because i once lived there.

I noticed on the main thread regarding the switch that some have picked branches in the far flung Scottish isles.

Where have you all requested to transfer to and why? Sticking a pin in a map or because of some attachment to a certain place?

I've opted for the Oban branch due to historic family connections with that area. Apparently centuries ago (so the story goes) my ancestors were driven out of the area for sheep rustling. If that's true or not I don't know :D

I'm going for Tongue for obvious reasons.

It's also one of the smallest branches so they'll be confused to find a random bloke in the English East Midlands has opened an account.

When I get my paper work its either going to be Oban or Stirling, both towns I love to visit.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I've decided to open a NatWest account. My new card should be here any day.

How do you request a transfer? I recieved the letter this morning saying my local branch will be getting sold to santander, I only opened an RBS account to get away from those bunch of jokers at A&L

Call them up for a change of branch form.

I would suggest you just open a NatWest account unless your very attached to the RBS brand as you'll retain local branch access.

Just read how to get a transfer form, thanks :)

Another question, once my account is transferred to a Scottish branch of RBS, how can I operate my account (paying money in/taking it out) ??

    NatWest??

I do not like any other bank, so want to stay with them

I selected Glasgow central branch but i opened a new account instead of account transfer as i wanted to be in control of transfering account etc etc
    For everthing else there's mastercard.
    For clampers there's Barclaycard.

You shouldn't have any problem paying money in via NatWest, but bear in mind you'll have to use a paper pay-in book and everything (cash included) will take a few days to appear on your account.

As for taking money out, you'll be restricted to using cash machines.

So if you rarely use the branch, then you'll be fine. If you need regular branch access then you would be better to changing to NatWest.
