OK, where is the best place to get a microfilter? I guess I'd better try another one.....

Mine worked OK with my last ISP though?

Not sure how to get the logs
  • https://www.ebuyer.co.uk do filters really cheap.

As for Tiscali, my uncle has never had any bother with them. he does use P2P, and gets alright d/l rates. Incidently, he's only ever had one problem, and a phone call to them, it was sorted out.
  • I know 5 people that have Tiscali and all of them are extremely satisfied and have been for some years. Recently my Father in law had a problem when his Linksys Modem/Wireless Router, which lost all of its imformation to enable it to connect to Tiscali.

Both Tiscali CS and Linksys CS were extremely helpful and I was able to rectify the problem in just over 1 hour.

Could it be that Tiscali's CS used to be very poor but have improved? People have been writing them off for years and on another forum someone predicted in 2004 that they would soon be out of business. They were wrong and Tiscali are still going strong.

I heard recently that they may even be the subject of a takeover by Sky or one of the other big boys. They would hardly do this if Tiscali was struggling.

Could it even be worth buying some of their shares?

    Read the thread:

    Tiscali: Mis-sold, My rights ?

In it 'Mobile Gossip' provides a link showing how Tiscali are the provider most complained about.

Do you work for them perhaps? Maybe you have shares with them already.........

I was thinking of going with Tiscali, but after reading all of this probably won't! Which is a !!!!!! as I have to figure out who to go with now! I was at first thinking about talktalk, but it will take 3 months to get connected, so that's out of the window as well!

They are indeed the most complained about on that ONE website. Currently only 3 other companies are listed as having complaints made (Plusnet, Pipex, and Sky). Presumably all others ISPs are perfect then? The site also does not state (except in the most general terms) what these complaints are. Quickly looking at the first five pages of their forum I noticed only 3 posts regarding Tiscali.

Could it not be that Tiscali has more customers that the others and so you would expect, on a percentage basis, for there to be a higher number of complaints?

I have no experience of Tiscali (except a brief period on dial up a good few years ago) so cannot confirm or deny the quality of their service but, without further substantiation I would not rely on the opinion of one web site.

peterlittleton was posting HIS opinion, based on HIS experience to add something to the debate whereas YOU are posting based on third-hand hearsay. I find this statement to be abusive, which is an absolute NO NO on this board.

Before you start making unfounded suggestions about other Forum members perhaps it would be wise if you did some homework and began acquainting yourself with available information on that individual.

You could have checked my Forum Profile and other posts that I have made and you would have discovered that I work in the legal profession, am a committed Chrisian and that my ISP is NTL. You would also have discovered that I am a registered (but redundant) distributor for UW whose products are now so uncompetitive that I direct people elsewhere, which is ethical.

I have only ever sought to try and save people money, this is evidenced in many of my posts if you care to have a look at some of them. You will also note the 2-1 thank you rate per post.

I am NOT a Tiscali customer, seller or shareholder, however in view of what I have read about Tiscali being a possible takeover target, their shares may be worth a punt and I am actively watching the situation before deciding. In the last week their share price went up by about 10%. - Interesting.

Zenmaster - Thanks for your supportive comments, until you pointed it out, I had failed to notice that last line of Joanne's post.
