    @MothBallsWallet...

    The security question can always be the same: "What is you name, date of birth, National Insurance number, your home address and your bank account log-in details?"

    If you want a really bad broadband with horrific customer service here are your options.

    Landline broadband - talk talk
    Mobile broadband - 3

    I have had the misfortune to use both these companies in the past and I can honestly say I would not use either of them again even if they gave me a free service and £500 in cash. I really found them that bad.

    Cannot comment on Three mobile broadband but, to be fair, TalkTalk broadband has been good for me - more reliable, faster and cheaper than two other providers I have used at my address. But, if broadband did go wrong, the dreadful customer service at Talk Talk would probably mean broadband remained wrong!

    I recently e-mailed TalkTalk with a query. Despite my account details showing an e-mail contact address and the message I sent them showing the same e-mail contact address, Talk Talk chose to reply to my TalkTalk e-mail address (that I do not use).

    My question to them was why do calls from Talk Talk appear on CLI display (and 1471) as 0498009886018 or 0448009886009?

    TalkTalk's full reply merely stated that international numbers do sometimes show a '+' symbol on a caller display!!! Hands up all those that agree this answer actually answered my question?

    I had same problem with them when I was a customer onetel which is owned by talk talk

    I had problems with marketing over a year ago with them and finally got them to stop abet for a while. Then in March they did it again constantly ringing me, I made numerous complaints. In the end I left Ontel because I dont wish to be a customer of a company who disrespects my wishes

    I now use Truecall call filter to screen calls so haven't had one single marketing call from anyone :D

    I also use TrueCall (the version with a phone recorder). That is how I record my calls with TalkTalk. I have several TalkTalk sales numbers blocked with my TrueCall but they keep calling me from different numbers, some with corrupted CLIs.

    The other problem I have found with TrueCall is that when it is switched on it reduced to the volume of my voice to the person I am talking to, so I often have to switch it off. I make sure I switch it on before I go to bed so that I do not get calls from drunk people misdialling the local Taxi service!

    When TrueCall first came out, I made a few suggestions to the co-inventor on how to improve TrueCall and many of them were implemented. I also suggested that he should appear on Dragon's Den and, lo and behold, a few months later he did!

    I would leave them Paul I went to Primus. I also emailed a guy high up on Talk Talk who in fairness did help me but I felt angry that I had to take it that far and also buy Truecall. I dont have any issues with truecall it also blocks marketing calls I havent had a single marketing call since March. It does put companies off and occasionally people are also unsure like sparky I had ring me last month he couldnt figure what what was going on

    I found Primus to be cheaper too

    @savemoney...

    I am stuck with TalkTalk until the end of my contract. If I want to leave it means going back to BT as I am on an LLU exchange. I cannot even switch to Opal Telecom, Talk Talk sister's company for business users.

    I chose Talk Talk as a good moneysaver. I make full use of unlimited calls, especially calls to 0845 numbers, the broadband is faster and more reliable than any other I have used. I find the new sales staff are knowledgeable and willing to assist. The big let down is the after-sales customer service and those selling upgrade packages.

    I guess I should be a bit more lenient with TalkTalk - they do not make money out of me and my full-time job is using my Talk Talk landline to do market research calls - that is why I bought Truecall - so I could record the market Research calls I make! But when TalkTalk introduced free calls to 0845 numbers, I used an alternative method of recording calls (via an 0845 number).
  • They phoned me the other day. They wanted me to give various personal information, to verify I was the account holder, when I refused, as they could have been anyone, they decided to talk talk to me all about "my" account anyway. So not knowing who I was they offered me the chance to sign up for another 18 months for some patheticly small freebie. This company has no idea whatsoever about data protection. I declined their kind offer on the basis that I was looking at what else was available as my connection was slow. This seemed to anger Telulah Talk Talk who kept repeating the mantra, but you broadband is "free". Eventually she got the message " and left me to think about their(kind) offer".
  • Hi, sorry, havent read all of the above, but same theme as another post I have just answered. Go to Otelo the telecoms ombudsman - they sorted out my issues with this terrible company and took the stress off me - you feel like you are talking to yourself when you speak to them, its all dribble - they wouldnt know good customer service if it hit them on the head with the custard pie

    @more money for me

    But Talk Talk's broadband is NOT free (except the first six months for new customers).

    Here is an ASA adjudication about Talk Talk's claim of free broadband...
