This is not a deal i got from Sky but for the last week or so i have been getting picture breakup and lost signal. I rang Sky and went through the test to see if they could get it going but no joy.
They said i need a service call and as i was 8 months into a 1 year contract(got a 50% off deal on tv) i asked how much and they said free. After checking my account i was told that as i only had tv package and not a new customer it would be £65 or sign up to sky protect. I said i am not paying to watch a blank screen and can they do it cheaper. Came back as £30 and i said well i think i will downgrade then and she went off to check something and then came and said supervisor said do it for free this Wednesday.
While waiting for the booking to go through she said i could upgrade to family pack for £3 and HD would be free for movies or something like that.
I read somewhere that from 1st june Hd will be free for movies and sport but i maybe wrong.0 -
I usually pay our line rental annually. I've just had a letter about Virgin Line Rental Saver. They are asking for £184 (full price £215.88).
I rang them and was told they can't make a better offer on this but did offer a £6 pm reduction on our TV package for the next 12 months.
I would like to stay with Virgin as their customer service has been excellent in the 3 years we've been with them.
Has anyone had any success haggling over the line rental?0 -
Usually get a good £200 off my Sky per year, found it very difficult in the past week to get any sort of deal. First time I tried online chat, think I'll stick to phoning next time. All very drawn out and deals not as good as they perhaps feel people are a bit easier touch as they choose to chat to do it and not the phone.
Had to actual cancel but even then not a massively great offer. 25% off total bundle. Thoughts?0 -
I wouldn't say so. Plenty of people have been offered 50% discounts recently on the haggling thread.
Check My Sky and all the apps for discounts. If you only cancelled a week ago there is still 3 weeks left for you to sort a deal.0 -
A complete pain to get any discounts on broadband and line rental. In the end I've gone for £14.99 line rental with broadband charged at £7.50. Total cost with Sky Family + Movies is £50.
They really wouldn't budge on the phone/deals this time. Last year I had £9.99 line rental and free broadband!0 -
To be honest with line rental you will get from any of the broadband suppliers one of two options.
A fixed price per month, or a saving if you pay a year up front.
Now days with all the reduced or fee broadband offers about, suppliers tend to push up the prices on the line rental side to subsidize the offers.
They have more flexibility on the TV packages side. You could push for a better saving on this. Go to the haggle thread section in the phone/TV section
To be honest £15.33 a month is not bad when you consider you are getting at lest 30 or 50mb speeds a month.
I am paying that for 17mb copper wire. The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
I got a better deal in September than in the previous year. Actual cancelling is a must for tv offers.0

I only get 5MB, as I'm not in a fibre area. Or Virgin for that matter. Even the highest village in England (in the Peak District has fibre), but a new suburb just north of Hanley can't muster it yet due to planning problems,0
