My Aunty got a letter today saying her sub price was going up by £2 in June (she gave it to me as I always sort her Sky).

Hasn't there just been a price bump? Or was it announced a while back and they're just sending out letter now.

Either way I got her 50% off and £100 credit at the beginning of the month, with no new contract.

Debating just telling her to cancel now and get a Humax Freesat box. I probably won't advise that as the no contract bit means shes basically got free sky for 5 months so it seems daft to tell her to leave now. But it is tempting because it means I won't have to deal with sky anymore.

The latter. It's the price rise that was announced a few weeks ago and they are now communicating to subscribers.

Thanks. I wasn't sure as I did have a vague recollection of them mentioning a price rise when I negotiated her deal.

  • Was only offered 35% and £50 credit off tv yesterday on live chat. tv ends today. was wondering if anyone else has had better offers in the last day or so. Sky wouldn't budge from 35%. was offered 50% over a week ago they wouldn't even honor that

..the price rise will be less than £2 as the letters are generic ,and don't allow for negotiated discounts. Look at future bills in MySky which will show the true increase.

I just called to cancel as within the last month of my year contract. They don't half make it hard to just cancel, i was on the phone for almost 30mins why they were asking me all sorts of stuff about my usage etc..

I don't intend to leave just get a deal from them. I currently pay £100.90, for TV, broadband and phone line (inc HD and Sky Sports), it'll be going up £8pm apparently and they offered to bring it down for 9 months to £99.90, when i said no they then said £91.90 so i just said no again.

I was only paying £62.40 for 9 of the 12 months on the last deal.

Hopefully they will call me in a few days with a sensible offer! If not i've marked it to call a week before the cut off to keep it :-)

9 years being with them should be worth more than that....

So already been offered 50% off my TV deal for 12 months without having to agree to another year contract, but on a rolling 31day one. So accepted that already as it seems nobody has received anything better, so didn't want to be greedy.

    Just Broadband to go..

After my 50% off TV and £50 credit deal the other day, I tried on Broadband and Phone today again and the offer was worse than previously. Last few times I've been offered free broadband for 12 months when I pay £17.40 line rental. Last two years I've had £9.99 or £12.99 line rental with free broadband.

Today I got offered £14.99 line rental and then pay for broadband on top! I refused.

Assuming you are out of minimum term -don't cancel if they don't come up with an acceptable offer-look for an alternative ISP and let them handle the switchover of services - this should prevent loss of phone number, reduce potential downtime and prevent imposition of the dreaded cease charges:)
