  • Called Virgin last week as a loyalty bonus of £8p/m had finished last month. On Big Kahuna and seen 3 rises in just over 12 months totalling over a tenner. Were paying £56p/m with a years line saver at around £12p/m on top.
Cancellations guy on the end in a bad mood it seemed, said the best he could offer me was £5p/m off maximum, stated that I already had a 'market leading deal' and the best 200MB Vivid BB. He just spent 10 minutes telling me all the good stuff I got for my money. In the end I said, "sorry but its got too much, and I need to get the cost down". He then totally downplayed every option that I had to cut the package price by dropping services and stated that it would be a new contract and no further discount would be available to me. Left me feeling cold and totally unwanted, while I'd remained relaxed and courteous throughout the call. I said I would price my alternatives and then call back to give them notice to cancel.
Today I called back hoping to get someone new, better mood & better deal. Explained myself again, said I had a disappointing call with someone last week. He pretty much cut the call short by letting me know that he had processed the cancellation and when my services would end, "could he do anything else for me today?".
I'm guessing that Virgin tell their operators to call the bluff of the money saver these days, that or they've looked at my profile having had maybe 8-10 grand off me in the last 12 years and just decided my kind aren't worth the effort. Seems I'm moving on to Sky...

I cancelled my sky about 3 weeks ago, my cut off date is 4th may

Ive been with them for over 20 years, they did call back (retention team) and offered me 35% off, i told them no and to still proceed with cancellation

What is this app everyone is talking about in the last pages of this thread?

Do you think i should play hard ball and let them cut me off or ring them back and fight for a 50% deal?

Not sure what to do now...

Ok people, ive got the following from sky (please dont shout)

    1) original sky digibox - with variety pack - paying £30.00 going up to £32.00. Nothing else

    I want the following -

Sky hd box to replace box above (family bundle) - for this im currently refurbing the house can i just add another wf100 cable to the dish for this

    multi-room (with normal box)

Now a friend of mine who worked in sky couple or years ago gave me a half price for up to a year voucher code but that offer is only there for new customers, can i cancel the current sub at the house under dads name and sign up in my name with new bank account etc..

Also just rang sky and got offered the following:

    1) sky family bundle with hd + box normally £38, down to £35 (what a joke)

    2) multiroom - £11.25 extra per month, £60 1 off charge for box and install - think i can get my first multiroom box for free according to a offer on the my sky page

finally got through to sky on the chat long story short they said only thing they can give me is 25% off the family bundle from £38.00, leaving multi-roon at the full price of £12.00 - no new box for this though.

I said thanks i'll still cancel later when i get home

    Any other options?

Your 1st thing to check is your contract length.
Sky arent likely to give £100 bill credit & 50% off without a minimum term.

I have just checked the chat transcript, it says "rolling contract". No mention of minimum time.
  • The App is called "Sky Service". I cancelled via the online Sky chat last week having reached a maximum 30% discount for 9 months of a 12 month renewal. Having downloaded the App and logged onto my Sky Account, the first page has a "50% discount for 12 months voucher"

Let them cut you off, then sign in online and see what they're offering.
They were offering 50% to me within a day, with no account credit.

I went online and asked for the 50% off for 12 months, and £100 credit. They said the best they could do was 50% and £50 credit.

I took it, as I was thinking the credit was due to me only having the basic package . If you've got sports and films, I'd be asking for £100 credit.

Thats exactly what ive been thinking, that they can only offer me the 25% off as all ive had is the variety pack nothing higher

Soon as i cancelled got a 35% deal in the app

Oh how I give up with Sky.

So I spoke to them on Monday, I posted something then. Anyway I was made an offer which was £10 a month off and I didnt accept.

I then get an email this morning telling me changed have been made to my account. Where do I stand as I did not accept this and a note was just going to be added to my account. Now changed have been made to my account with out my permission.

I have tried 2 different chats and they have been awkward to say the the least and I left them. I just winder where I stand with this now or if anyone has been down this road before and could offer any advise?
