  • Just been informed by Virgin that I am going to have to pay an extra £2.50 per month from 1st June. This is a rise of £30 a year, not up to £24 as stated by MSE today.
This is the second increase in the last 6 months. I will be terminating my contract with them. They don't value their customers! They are already getting £123.99 per month from me plus my phone contracts. I will be cancelling the lot. Immediately their media package, and phones as soon as I am out of contract in a few months.
    Their loss.

Three weeks after cancelling sky, and just negotiated 50% discount, but no discount on the HD, AND £50 credit on a 12 month contract. Almost £500 saved on the full tv package. I'm happy with that.
  • It's pretty inconvenient to read through offers which aren't relevant to me - people aren't leaving Sky, BT and Virgin and the same time.

    Thanks :)
  • Is anyone paying less than £42.77 pcm for the smallest Virgin Media package? BB Fibre 20, M TV, M phone (Talk Weekends).
  • Loving this thread. I was wondering what the main approach people have to haggling with the guys over the phone? I am currently paying just over £90 pm. It is high but I pay a lot of my broadband because I have the pro package so can take that hit however the TV and Phone side of things are just getting more and more which is annoying.

I only have the HD+ package I think it is so I can watch the F1, not really in to other sport and would have to pay for BT Sport for UFC etc. So my package shouldn't be as much as it is. Also I presume other people are in the same boat but I pay £8 a month for a home phone I don't use, I know they put this up a few months back but I never use the house phone so is this a good barging tool too?

I am good at complaining however I never know how far to take with Sky :)

Thanks in advance for any tips.

P.S - I agree with other threads about this but my parents who always had Sky decided to leave over a year ago and give Freesat ago then BT only because it was with there broadband. Now they have just signed up for the £30 deal which is really annoying.
  • I was on a £32 Sky TV Package for 12 months. My contract was coming to an end and called to cancel my contract 1st week of April. I was offered 30% for 12 months on Sky TV, i rejected and Cancelled my contract.

I then check MySky page online and got a letter in the post and was offered 35% Off for 12 Months. I rejected that.

Finally got a phone call 3 weeks later and Sky Call Centre offered me: 12 months contract 3 months Free + £16 for 9 Months (50% off), i signed up!:T

It goes to show to be patient and wait it out if you can!

Sky really won't budge on discounting line rental this year. All they can offer is free broadband. Usually line rental discount was fairly easy.
  • Just got a new bill from Sky to say it was going up to £71.50 a month, MSE suggested charm offensive and don't accept the first offer. Now getting sky for £37.50 a month. Thank you for advise folks, its always worth a try

Just spoken to Ramit at 'Winback team' on live chat (i had to be transferred through from the cancellation section which was something not offered before) and I pushed and pushed for 50% off with £100 but could only manage £50. I'll take that though as a win.

Ah right so is the web chat just as good as a phone call then?
