Tenth Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
I've just called Sky threatening to leave because my bill is going up by £4.50 to £61.75 per month, I'm sick of seeing new customer deals and nothing for existing customers, and the fact that they were very little help when I had an issue with my Sky box in the past (they said I'd need to pay for a new one).

    So they've offered me either:
25% off for 12 months with a 12 month contract renewal

    or

20% off for 5 years with a 12 month contract renewal

I've told them I'll call back when I've decided which deal to take (I made sure they made a note of what I'd been offered on my account).

So should I take one of these options or hold out for more? I've seen people getting 60% off, but I don't know if I'm willing to risk being without Sky to get that. I do love Sky (been with them for over 10 years), I just think it's getting very expensive lately.

    Help!

I am not sure if that is aimed at me?

If it is I am not a NEW customer, I have been a custoemr of sky for many many years.

Anyhow can anyone help with my post above?
Sorry - no it was not aimed at you - rather Sky, for forgetting their loyal long term customers (again) !!

Here we go again - another offer to NEW customers - all the years of LOYALTY being thrown straight back in your face - I have been a Sky customer for 13 years and, last month - signed up for another 12 months (after negotiating a 25% discount) - still paying over £32 with NO SPORT and NO MOVIES

You signed up again. Why would they offer you more?
  • Have given my notice as they couldn't offer me anything decent. Cut off date is 9th May.
Had a good result last year, but a bit concerned it won't happen this time by looking at people's results on here. Missed a call from them earlier so doing a bit of research as to what I can get before they call back. Currently have family with movies, BB and phone. Problem is I have 2 accounts with sky, which has caused endless problems/over charging.... My sky page never shows any deals, just says 'Unfortunately we are unable to show your exclusive offers available online. To continue or for more information, please call 08442 411 818.'
So, my aim is for 50% off tv for 12 months, free BB for 12 months and at least £50 credit...Not very hopeful tho! I'm not great at haggling, but seeing what people on this forum manage to achieve really helped me last year and am going to try again this year!

    Urgh! I'm SO annoyed!!!
Seems like Sky have outsourced their retentions...Didn't get a call back about my BB and phone, but just had a call about the TV package. Asked if I could speak to someone about my whole package rather than individual services, she said no.
Was offered same TV package (family with movies) for £36.40, £50 credit. Apparently it's one offer then you're off the call back list. She was very abrupt, seemed like she couldn't wait to get onto the next call...Was a bit bewildered so she offered to call back tomorrow.
Wasn't going to go through with the cancellation, but am seriously thinking about it after that...

I was offered 30% off for 5 years with a twelve month contract on the 8th of April.

I know you can get more off by cancelling, we only have SKY for the sports in HD and didn't want to cancel plus it is a nuisance having to phone up every year and try and negotiate again, so personally was happy to accept that though others would probably have held out for more.

I just done this twice this month, cancel Sky, ring or use the online chat, go through all the pain, they will offer you 25% off, then 35% off for 9 months with a 12 month contract, reject all that and cancel.

Wait a few minutes, then log back into my sky or the sky service app and you should get a 50% for 12 months offer.
  • You must be better at it than me!

I cancelled via chat and had a call about an hour later. No effort to persuade me to stay and just "your final bill will be ££."

There was immediately a 35% off offer on their website but that is it.

Assuming I don't get another call, that's about it and service ends on 29th. Been with Sky at least 15 years but Humax, here I come. No big deal as I am fed up with paying Sky so much and even more so now they are offering new customers all they do, including a free box, for £30 a month

I am the same as you, been with sky over 17 years and when I rang ro cancel all she did was reduce the price by removing things. I have looked on both the website and the service app and I haven't even got the 35% offer. So will have to wait and see but not holding my breath.
  • Thanks for the reply. I read their terms and they state not to be used with any other offer, so looked elsewhere.

I managed to find a 50% off code online (for 12 months), along with TV installed for free (saving £35) and fibre for £10 (saving £10), which worked out cheaper than with cashback and a free TV - very happy!

    FYI, the code is GETSKY50
  • Just been informed by Virgin that I am going to have to pay an extra £2.50 per month from 1st June. This is a rise of £30 a year, not up to £24 as stated by MSE today.
This is the second increase in the last 6 months. I will be terminating my contract with them. They don't value their customers! They are already getting £123.99 per month from me plus my phone contracts. I will be cancelling the lot. Immediately their media package, and phones as soon as I am out of contract in a few months.
    Their loss.
