Sky, Virgin & BT TV Haggle down prices and get serious discounts Article Discussion

As has been previously posted, you won't get the best offers until you're out of contract and you've given notice. I've been out of contract for years and was only offered 25% off for 9 months until I gave notice, it then went up to 50% (so far)0

The best deal they can give me is only £3 short of what I'm paying now £115 to £112. I will have to think about cancelling all together or try again in a few weeks to get the best deal. I had mentioned to them that there was a fantastic deal with Virgin Media.
I feel at the moment they want me to leave them, as I have been a loyal customer for over 7 Years.
Where do I go from here all help would be grateful
Best advice ? Cancel the TV portion only when you get within 30days of contact end - easy to reinstate, its literally a "flick of a switch" -wait for TV offers on MySky or by email -when you get an offer that looks interesting eg 50% discount then negotiate with them for 1. cash credit as well 2. free line rental or 3. free b/band . Only YOU can decide whether you have negotiated a satisfactory price or not.
DON'T CANCEL phone and broadband -if you really can't get a deal ,find a new provider and let them handle the take over of the line.
IF you actually cancel phone/broadband ,you will find that Sky will instruct BT Openreach to disconnect you with resultant cease charges, loss of phone number and reconnection charges with a new supplier!!:(0 -

Crikey! £1,344 a year on Telly phone and Internet. I thought this was money SAVING expert.0 -
If sky can give 50% off tv then it's too expensive in the first place.0

Sky just called and offered free phone line rental. He seemed surprised I didn't bite his hand off!
Everyone else he offers this to goes mad for it apparently! I asked him about TV but he said he only does the broadband...This is the ongoing problem I have with having 2 accounts, its so annoying, they never realise I have the whole package...He said he had some kind of problem with 'the system' and is ringing me back in 5 mins...Not going to hold my breath tho...0 -
Hi all,
we're about to switch our phone, tv and fibre from BT to Sky, and just saw the new offer on Martin's email for £30 a month including sports and movies from Sky.
Does anybody know if we'd be able to get the LG TV that Sky are currently giving away, and the cashback through Quidco, along with this new offer?
Thanks!0 -
How are they allowed to do this?
I put in cancellation notice and service is due to end 30 April. Within a day on the Sky Service android app it had huge retention notice indicating 50% off to stay with them for further 12 months. However, if you click on the terms and conditions that 50% has suddenly been dropped to only 35%! Now let's accept that you're not dumb enough to check the T&C but surely they should not be able to do this?
Since putting in notice had one call trying to persuade me to stay but they weren't offering any better than 35% off which I politely refused.
Has anyone got a better offer of late or even a please come back offer after the service went off?0 -

I had exactly the same thing - on phone & live chat the best they offered was 30%, then rang to cancel tv & they gave me a date when service ends, I looked at the Service App later on & saw a message offering me 50% off TV to stay with them, looked at t&c which said 35%.
I rang the number on the offer page and told them what the offer was and they gave me the 50% off for 12 months. Happy with that.0 -

Quido/TCB will be a definite no as you need to go through the special MSE link rather than via a cashback site. I also doubt whether you would also get the TV but without seeing what page the link takes you to it's imposible to be 100% certain.0 -
I have seen the promotion of £31/month complete sky deal on MSE. But its only for new customers. We have sky t home and bill is being paid by my husband. What if he cancel it and I take a new sky contract to get above deal. My husband had tried to haggle but didnt really get any good deal. He is paying 65 a month now for sky with out movies or sports. He is out of contract. Thanks for suggestion0
