Put in my 30 days notice for my sky package as it's due to end.
Was paying £20 for the family bundle on a 60% off offer. My only retention offer is full price and the justification for this was I was getting a 60% discount before.

I'll just stick to Netflix I think :)

Give it time, another offer will likely be forthcoming.

My experience is that the online chat retentions will not offer you a new box, just the best deal.

Also, what a palava - logged on chat this morning, all sorts of things messed up with my account> For a start someone decided to cancel my 'cancellation' request which had meant I was due to end my Sky by 25th March, and took an hour via online chat to sort that out.

Still no deals offered because my cancellation request had messed up. Anyway its on track now, will contact Retentions online tomorrow again.

Think that you can still get a new HD+box if you upgrade during negotiations to Family pack from "Standard" - Only thing that wasn't negotiable last October, was multiroom -got discounts on everything else inc HD pack but absolutely no offer on multiroom.

You may be able to get a multi room deal separately through Quidco or Topcashback - the current best offer is £30 Cashback and half price for 12 months on Quidco (last week was £50 Cashback and £50 M&S voucher but full price). Offers for existing customers are on a separate section on both Quidco and Topcashback - I would clear browser cookies etc or a different browser to make sure it tracks.

  • Cancelled Sky yesterday afternoon.

Child about 7pm and account was showing 35% off any bundle.
Read elsewhere about the SKY app, which I downloaded last night and when I load that, it says 50% off

Trying to get onto live chat just now and see if I can secure the £100 bill credit
  • So a update

    Got the following
50% off family bundle and sports and movies plus the HD pack and one multi room comes in at 51.75 per month for 12 months

After a bit of pushing got £100 credit to bill which I work out at 43.41 which is just under what I paying now..

    So I'm happy
From a cancellation to the above in less than 24 hrs

In my case I've already cancelled. What's the best strategy to use on the online chat page for a free box? As stated in this thread the Indian call centers tend to give best deals and that's best done in the mornings uk time

You can still get a new box even though you have cancelled. When they contact you or you contact them, just negotiate a new box for free. I did this for my dad a few months. His box was not recording. As I said before, just make an excuse why you need a new box. The engineer, when he visits your property, will not bother to fix it or test it. He will just replace it.

Yeah I agree, that`s why I was suggesting e-bay may be the best bet.

Finally! After a bit of hanging around waiting for the 'chat' to go green, got on, around 40 mins later got the following:

    £100 credit
50% off any package. I chose to stay on Family Package so £18 per month. NO 12 month contract which I was pleased about!

Couldn't negotiate a box off him, but im not too bothered. The current box works fine but would have been nice to upgrade to a wifi one. There's always Ebay if I want a 2TB version :)

Above all, very happy. I get to keep my £9.99 line rental + free broadband until my Sky BB contract runs out end May. If I let my cancellation run through my BB + line rental would have shot up to full price. But I'll still keep an eye on that bill 'just in case' their billing system screws up.

I've been using this thread as a reference point for the best deal the past few years and always happy to compare and see you're not being screwed over.

As with other people, the 50% offer is offered immediately along with £50 cash, and 12 month contract. Just be nice and politely decline and say youve been a loyal customer for x years, and in no instant this turns into £100 cash + 50% discount, and no contract as long as you dont push for a Sky Box.

I tried to push this to 60% but no joy, but am happy with the above. Last year I was offered 50% for 10 months , no contract, £100 cash, no box so happy and in line with what others are getting this year.

I have full intention to move to BT Broadband in May as long as they offer something good, and unless Sky up their game and give me an offer I can't resist :)

Whats the best people are managing with Sky Broadband?

    Hello one & all,
As a bit of a tart(as Martin would call me) I was wondering which would be my best(cheapest)route to obtaining this little lot?
    Sky family bundle(Sky)?
    Unlimited broadband(anywhere but talk talk).
Telephone line(Wish I didn't need it, but hey ho).

At the moment I receive the following, all from Sky, for approx. £46.00
    Unlimited BB.
Weekend & Evenings telephone(forced upon me by Sky).
Movies/Sports/Family bundle(Again, conned into it by Sky).

My contract is just about finished.

    Thanking you all.

Does anyone have experience in getting a decent retention deal out of virgin? We have Been offered £10 a month off so takes it down to £77 a month for all channel bar sports and movies, landline, 200mb internet, and 3 boxes. I still think it's steep for what we get and sky offer 50% off if i go back to them. So given 30 days cancellation to them and hoping to get a deal from retention. Fingers crossed

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.
