How long is it taking people to get through on Sky Chat? Doesn't seem to ever connect even when it says someone is available! Do you just leave the chat window up that says connecting and wait?

Some days it takes forever, others you can get straight through - Very annoying! When the green light goes on, click and it then asks for details - worth staying on that page until the green light comes back on and then press submit - if the chat window hangs on "connecting" I have found it is worth closing the window and starting again.

Has anyone else had a letter from sky saying 20% off your sky tv offer? Says it is an exclusive saving of 20% off sky tv for 10 months when you stay with sky for another 12 months. After 10 months you will pay between 21.50 and 71.50 dependent on your package..

At the moment I pay £34 a month which is till end of May, anyone know if the 20% is off this?.. If I hadn't had got a deal from sky I would be paying £73.50 a month..

Was tempted to go online and see what happens, but once you click on the link it does it right away, before you can say no thanks..

    Any help would be appreciated...

You may see what happens but in all likihood you will then be tied in to a new 12 month contract. As people are getting 50% to 60% off and many with £100 account credit too, it is worth hanging on until you can put in your notice as the offers open up considerably.

    Morning all!

Just called Virgin Media, to basically try to get a discount on my package. Not had one applied for a while, so thought it about time to try my luck. I've watched my price go from £45pm to now £70pm, even though I was told the price was for 'life'.

Just finished speaking to one of the guys via a chat panel and they're unable to do anything, but offer me a discount of £3 a month - which would then tie me to another 12m service.

Fifteen years I've been with VM and their inability to offer any flexibility to existing customers is shocking. Anyone care to advise?

With Virgin again you have to phone up and cancel and then await their Loyalty/Retentions team to call you back. Online chat are the sales team and have next to no offers. When you phone up and chose the Thinking of Leaving option, you get to inbound retentions - they can offer some good deals. however, still put in your noice and then wait for them to call you (I did last week and was called within a few days - as are most people from reports online). It is a game, so you have to play it (but gem up on the possibilities on various forums) :D.

so, after much negotiation, I eventually accepted 50% discount, £100 credit and no contract. I only cancelled on Sunday so, perhaps, I may have jumped in a bit too soon and may have been able to increase that if I had waited a bit longer but, in all honesty, I couldn't face losing another hour of my life on Sky Chat! I am more than happy with what I have got!

Thanks to all for giving me the confidence to haggle!

Well done - once you pluck up the courage to contact them (and accept you generally have to cancel to get the best deals) in most cases you get the deal without losing services .

You are probably in the best position as no contract and big saving plus credit - so use up the account credit over the coming months ... and them you can always put your notice in to quit again to see if you can get a better deal or further account credit ;).

I was thinking of doing that and see what happens, see if I can get another good deal this year...

    Hey,

I tried this option yesterday. I was offered 20% off my TV package via the chat but cancelled however even when I log in today it's still showing that I have the full package and that my next bill is £109 when the advisor told me it would be £40. Should I contact them again in case it wasn't processed through to cancel?

There are no TV offers for me because my account still shows I have everything :S bamboozled!

    Thanks in advance :)

Hey Lou,So you ended up accepting a new deal that is £40 a month down from £109?

Your next bill will not change until the final payment from the previous amount is taken.

When you log into sky click on check your package and furter down the page it will tell you the cost of your monthly subscription, it should hopefully say £40 and if it does then everything should be fine :)

Just to throw in that with the help of this thread (and a special mention/thanks to mikeizz), I've just achieved £980 of saves over the next year with my Sky/BT Sport/Virgin contracts. Sky do make you jump through the cancellation hoops, but the 50%/£100 offer is still very much alive and well, despite it only offering 35% on the home screen. And you can get a bit more off the multiscreens as well, although I got the impression there wasn't a lot of movement to be had there...

So thank you all. That should just about pay for one ticket to see England/Wales this weekend :-(

No probs at all , I would rather you have the money that than Murdoch :)
  • i not a person who like to haggle .i was looking at virgin media website and now offer a £9 per month for the super fibre 50 . but my friend recommend me to go to the virgin link on taipantakeaway.yolasite.com as virgin do virgin media partners and offer the same deal ONLY at £ 4.99 per month 12 month contract.... .huge discount right?

I recently reduced my package from £70 to ~£35.

Package was due to increase following my previous years 50% off.

Placed cancellation and immediately offered 50% off on MySky. Waited a week, went onto live chat and told them I wanted 60% off and £100 credit on everything (Package is TV only - Family with HD, Movies & Multiroom). They eventually gave me 60% off Family with HD & Movies but wouldnt move on Multiroom. This was 3 or so weeks ago.

I went onto Mysky last week and clicked to cancel my multiroom, they offered me 50% off multiroom for 6 months alongside current offers.

So now paying less than £30, with my £100 credit I'm getting over 3 months free

Did you have to go through all the cancel screens to get the offer on multiroom? I've had a look at cancelling but don't get any offer, just the option to "cancel" Does the offer appear once you confirm you want to cancel?
