Just put my 31 days notice in today so will report back with what they offer me if anything.
Sky don't seem to be as bothered anymore about keeping customers, in fact I think they are quite rude.
Just to let you know, since my post above I have already received 50% off and £50 bill credit. hmmmm think ill wait a bit longer see what they offer£10 a day - 2015 - £1173.06

I'm sure they'll offer you more off. How long have you been with them? What they offer people is totally random!0 -

Hi
Ive only been with sky for one year as moved into a new property.
Ive just been on chat for an hour and had some hard haggling.
So I have received:
Sky TV - Variety Pack, Sports, Movies, Multiroom, Sky Go Extra - £38.50 a month
Sky Broadband - Unlimited Pro Fibre (Top Broadband) + Line Rental - £25 a month
£50 Bill Credit
No new contract so can cancel at any point
They are telling me my package should be £128.15 and I am receiving this all for £63.50 - saving £775.80.
So the cancel method is certainly a way to go.
Thanks to MSE and the forum members im certainly very happy£10 a day - 2015 - £1173.06

I gave my 31 days notice - package rising to £87pm - by phone on xmas eve, got offered 30% off to renew and declined. Within 2 minutes 50% offer on my sky account.
Got an email offer 50% off and £50 credit first week in the New Year, went on chat (it's a bit slow but I negotiate better in writing rather than over the phone!), confirmed 50% was for Family, Sport and Movies not HD or multiscreen. Eventually offered 50% off HD as well, total cost £49.12pm but I held my nerve and declined, even though i got a lot of grief from my family.
Went on chat last week and told could do 50% off and £50 but no multiscreen or HD discount, cost £51.75 (plus £50). Told them it was worse than previous week but no joy. Thought I'd made a tactical error.
Got a "final" reminder email of my cancellation last night. Went on chat - clicked on "come back to Sky" button to chat this time. Straight away got offered the £49.12 a month plus £50 (he said he could see I'd previously been in touch). Held my nerve and asked for more credit or 50% off multiscreen. Told me £50 credit is current max, but said he would see what he could do - result!
Got 50% off multiscreen as well for 6 months £44.12 then rises to £49.12 after 6 months, plus got the £50 credit. No contract for any of it other than for the very basic TV package (12 months). Was tempted to push for 12 months multiscreen discount but decided I'd pushed my luck far enough.0 -
I was on the Family pack on a previous 50% off deal which was due to end next month. Gave my notice last week and negotiated a deal for 50% off for 12 months and £50 credit on chat 2 days back, but downgraded to the Variety pack voluntarily at the same time.
Then, I signed in to my Sky account via Quidco and upgraded my package back to the Family pack (£18 per month after the 50% discount).
The £50 is already showing on my account as an account credit. The £30 Quidco offer has tracked and I've also just received a Samsung Galaxy Tab E for upgrading to the Family pack.
Didn't expect the tab to arrive to be honest, let alone so soon! Well chuffed. :j0 -
Does anyone know what the current offers are for broadband and line rental with sky? I'm going to ring and threaten to change to plusnet if they dont match or better the deal I've seen. Just wondered what the likely offers will be.0

Just a word of caution to anyone considering the VM 'big kahuna' pack discount. VM has mithered me for ages with tempting offers and over Christmas I decided to go with the VM offer, getting rid of Sky after 14 years. It's the top tv package inc sports and movies, 200 mbs broadband and a phone line plus 2xHD boxes on a total package half price for 12 months (tie in for 18 months) of £67.98 a month which is less than half of what I've been paying sky. Fab I thought.
Today it's all installed and I discover that their 'top package' tv only includes standard definition sky movies and sports. If I want to watch movies and sport in HD that's extra. It's still cheaper than I was paying before but nowhere on the literature does it say that you only get SD movies and sports. On the contrary it boasts the package includes 48 HD channels and at no point was I advised of this important little detail when I spoke at length to the sales advisor. Quite why anyone paying for premium channels on a HD box would choose to watch in SD is a mystery to me., at the very least I'm cross that this wasn't offered when I signed up. I've complained - unsuccessfully - but the whole experience has left a nasty taste in my mouth. Not impressed by VM at all and now I'm minded to take advantage of my 28 day cooling off period and going elsewhere.0 -
Tried haggling with Sky today. Ended up telling me about a £196 cancellation charge, which I told them I would not have to pay if I cancelled by 31st January. They have agreed to put a note on my account but retentions department would not offer any form of incentive to keep me. I am currently paying £92 per month, soon to be £104!!!!0
