About a month!You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0

wow, I'm so jealous of all you Sky people getting your 50%'s off so easily!
Been with Virgin since it was Telewest, and am now paying £80 per month for TVXL, broadband (no idea what speed, fast lol), and a phone line (don't use it). I've seen that I could get a 'switch to Sky' deal with them of pretty much the same thing for £45 a month the first year, then £63 a month after.
I called Virgin and first she just tried to reduce my package to less channels (without making it clear that's what she was doing), and then after a while I was offered £61 a month for 6 months then £63 after. This is £221 a yeah cheaper which is great, but knowing I could get Sky so much cheaper even if only for 12 months made me say no. She then offered me a line rental saver thing, where you pay the line rental in one go (£164) and it saves you £52 over the year.
It essentially brings it down to just under £60 through the year. Tempting, but still... I don't know.
I said I'd speak to TheWife™ about it this evening. I could tell she wanted me to give an answer there and then.
Trying to get into the frame of mind of being ok with cancelling, in case i get my bluff called. When you've been with someone so long the thought and hassle of changing can really put you off!0 -
You must have a fall back plan in case they don't come back to you .0
-
they will come back and make an offer we cancel every year and they come back to us like a week before its due to go"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

So I tried the cancelling Sky to see what I could get, as a friend said he got 50%. When I called they offered a 25% discount of TV (not HD). This took my full package inc movies and sports and HD from £75 to £59. I declined and 2 weeks later I got a phone call and letter offering 50%, taking it down to £43.50.
I then decided to ditch the sport & movies, which took it down to £26. I then thought I don't really need HD as I haven't got movies and sport anymore(BBC/ITV etc are free HD channels so not affected).
Hey presto now paying £15 a month!
Oh and the £50 credit on my account.0 -
have full package (TV only) - multroom, hd, movies, sport.
Was on a 12 m 50% off deal costing my £51ppm.
Suddenly went up to over £85ppm
They have offered me 33% off normal price for 5 years = £62 per month.
Long contract discount but would prefer 50% off....

So waiting to see if they come back to offer more - 12th Feb is the day!
Well still no call from Virgin but I saw the deal they are giving new customers for line rental and BB so called them to see if they'd match it for me.
Best they said they could do was if I paid line rental in advance I could have BB for £10 a month which works out at £24/month so not bad but still not great.
I said no and will wait and see. But thought they would have called by now. Still annoyed they treat new customers better. :mad:0 -
Cancelled 2 weeks ago, heard nothing except a survey email, do i:
• Contact them now - ask for the deal.
• Carry on waiting..0 -

carry on waiting. Live without it for a few weeks if necessary. They'l call you eventually. You just have to persevere!0
