I've been with Sky for 12 years, and the only deal I've ever had was half price BB for 6 months a few years ago. I've got a pretty full package with all the channels, sports, movies but no multiform or sky go extra, also got fibre BB and phone from them.
Having read this thread I cancelled my TV package last week (27/1) and told them I'd be transferring to a new BB provider - all via online chat.
It's been 6 days now and no emails (bar the one confirming I'd cancelled) or phone calls from Sky. If I log on to MySky it looks no different and I can't see any 50% off offers. They offered me 20% when I cancelled, but I refused.
How long should I wait before getting in touch with them? Should I have had offers on MySky or email by now?
I've never done this before so panicking a bit! Help!!
Dom
It can be nerve wracking the first time you cancel but don't worry. Some people get offers within minutes, others never actually get one they just ring and ask. Personally it took 2 weeks before I got an offer via email. No calls or offers on my account. It seems to vary from person to person when/if they get offers. It's up to you how long you wait. I used the thinking of coming back to sky online chat to get my tv deal. https://secure.sky.com/mysky-extras/coming-back-to-sky to be honest the outcome seems to be the same whether you wait for an offer or not. People end up with the same deal.
After getting my tv deal, I checked http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband to find the best broadband/line rental deal available on the market. Contacted sky broadband via online chat quoting the best deal available and ask them to do me a better deal or I'd swap providers. Then it's up to you if you want to accept the deal or risk cancelling. Good luck.0 -
Don't let it get cut off and don't wait for them to contact you. Call their reinstate team. Tell them you cancelled because it was too expensive and ask if there are any deals available if you cancel your cancellation date. The number I called was 03332 022 143. I had no email or calls, nor was there any change on MySky. I got free line rental as my first offer, I didn't push for more. Worst case scenario they offer you nothing, you ask them to cancel your cancellation anyway and when you're out of hospital you instruct another provider to take over.
Well today i got an email saying that Sky would give me free line rental for 12 months if i commit for 12 months.
I have ADSL broadband but i want to get fibre installed as i have sky on demand, freeview catch up, netflix, mobiles and tablets all connected my 5-6mb broadband sometimes can't cope. Has anybody got free line rental and a good fibre deal from them when replying to the email?0 -
Further update on my cancelation.
Had online chat about the free 12 month line rental deal. I also asked about getting fibre added and after a lot of discussion the offer i took was free line rental for the year, calls package i had already and fibre for a total of £23 per month.
I was paying £33 per month for 6mb broadband so to me got a good deal with fibre broadband.
Other people may/have got a better deal but i am happy and that's what matters to me.
Good luck.0 -
After some success with Sky TV, I turned my attention to Virgin for broadband/phone/freeview tv. After initially being offered £2 off per month, which would then be wiped out by the planned £3.49 increase next month, I said I would cancel. They have since called back offering 12 months line rental foc, which is a £200 credit and have upgraded my freeview TV box to Tivo with no charge. So quite happy with that as I didn't want to leave them, as overall service has been pretty good.0

My skytv went off today, had the 50% offer on mysky so went through to live chat and managed to negotiate 50% off and £75 credit, happy with that !3.64KW system, aurora power one inverter, South west facing with no shading in Lancashire.0

I rang Sky to fake 'cancel' my BB&tel package as i said I was moving to Talktalk. The Sky operative offered me £17.50 a month line rental and free BB and £30 credit.
I politely turned him down (as i expected a better deal) and now my BB is set for cancellation on the 23rd feb!
I intended to sign up with talktalk, but the reviews were so bad, im frightened to sign up and then cancel at the last minute to try and stare down Sky for a better deal. Also, TalkTalk say I need a BT openreach line installation on 23rd feb and I'm worried they would want paying for that if i cancelled the install on the 20th say?
I was hoping for £9.99 a month line and free BB.
Could the sky operative tell i hadn't signed up to talktalk?0 -

Now you've actually cancelled you can deal with their reinstate team. Call the number in my post above, tell them you were happy with the service but it was just too expensive so you wanted to check if they had any better offers before you initiate a swap to talk talk. Then you'll probably be offered free line rental (unless the offers available have changed recently).0 -
Long time Virgin Media customer.
Managed to haggle and get a package consisting of:
M+ TV with TiVo
70mb Broadband
Phone M - (Free Weekends)
£50 credit and Line Rental Saver (before the hike this Feb) + Loyalty Discounts
Taking into account everything (including line rental saver) this works out at £26 per month!
This is down from £49 it had crept up to beforehand.
Sounded like a good deal to me!0 -
Did you do that by cancelling or just saying you wanted to leave?0

Sky Q is supposedly launching in 2/3 days - do you think if I want to get a good deal on non Sky Q TV service I should try before the Q release or after the release? Do you think they will be keener to give deals on a 'lesser' service once it's released, or less keen?
I've already cancelled, just in my 30 days of limbo right now...0
