okay just entered my 31 days of pre sky oblivion so now let's see what they can come up with, best offer pre-cancellation 33%.

If they decide to send me any offers through MySky where would I see them?

...when I gave notice to cancel, the 50% off appeared immediately on the main MySky page (after logging on); ~Two weeks after, the email arrived offering 50% plus £50 bill credit and at the same time offering me a "free" HD+ box if I upgraded to Family. Used that as the basis for negotiations a week or so later, just before switch off date.:)
  • Now you've actually cancelled you can deal with their reinstate team. Call the number in my post above, tell them you were happy with the service but it was just too expensive so you wanted to check if they had any better offers before you initiate a swap to talk talk. Then you'll probably be offered free line rental (unless the offers available have changed recently).

Many Thanks for your help Liberty!

Got an email today asking me to ring them if i wanted to save money. Phoned and said the email offered free line rental (a lie, yes Mr Murdock, a lie!) and the lady agreed straight away! So I'm £7.50/month for UL BB and free line rental for a year
  • Long time Virgin Media customer.

Managed to haggle and get a package consisting of:

    M+ TV with TiVo
    70mb Broadband
    Phone M - (Free Weekends)
£50 credit and Line Rental Saver (before the hike this Feb) + Loyalty Discounts

Taking into account everything (including line rental saver) this works out at £26 per month!

This is down from £49 it had crept up to beforehand.

Sounded like a good deal to me!

I'm currently paying £80.42 for TV XL, 50mb broadband, and M phone (which I don't even have a phone plugged into) !! Holy crap.

I called them and they went down to £63 a month I think it was then offered me the 'pay in advance' line rental saver thing which saved a bit more.

Considering going to Sky as I could get the equivalent much cheaper.... I just know I'm gonna miss that third tuner on the Tivo box though!! (and the 50mb internet)

    hmmmm... decisions...
  • Ok. I've done it. Got 50% off my sky tv bill and £100 credit.

After cancelling on the 26th Jan, I waited for offers. None came through email, post or MySky for 2 weeks, so I got impatient and clicked the link in Liberty's post above which is the 'coming back to sky' online chat.

I asked if they had any further deals for me, to which she asked if I was on my notice period (yes!) and then she immediately offered me 50% off and £100 credit. I tried to get her to throw in Sky Go Extra, but she said I would have to call retentions to get any extra stuff added.

Very happy that I'm saving a fortune this year.

However...Sky Q has now been released and having had a good look on the website, it seems that the Sky Q package (not the silver package) with all channels movies and sports is pretty much the same price (bar the setup costs) of Sky HD - maybe I should have pushed for that instead!

Oh well - there's always next year!

    Thanks for everyones help.

Can't see Sky doing any deals on Sky Q for the first year or so ...there will be enuf wealthy peeps prepared to pay the full price just to maintain their social status:rotfl:

As an aside, nice to know that the £100 bill credits are back on the table !!
  • I put my yearly cancellation in just over a week ago, before my previous 50% deal came to an end.

Price was due to increase from £45 to £69 for Family with Movies. HD & Multiroom, and all they could offer was £10 discount after telling me I'd saved over £1500 over the past two years with discounts.

Went on live chat today and told them a friend had recently got an offer and they offered me the 50% off (excld HD & Multiroom) which had been showing on My Sky since the minute I cancelled. Told them my friend had got better so straight away offered £50 credit. Told them my friend got 60% off TV incl HD, 50% off multiroom for 6 months and a £100 credit. Straight away offered 60% off TV & HD, plus £100 credit - wouldnt budge on multiroom but works out effectively 50% off everything plus £100 credit.

Does that mean 50% off the original price of £69? Does this include broadband? Line rental?

One of the problems with posts on this page is that people often put "I got offered xx% discount which is a great deal". However this gives very little information for comparison! xx% of what? The whole package? What is the package? What was the price to begin with? Are there extras that don't benifit from the discount?

If people could give the total package price (inc.line rental etc.) including all discounts and then give the total yearly and/or montly cost it would be far more useful information for comparison.

Even a break down the package such as, phone package (inc. rental), tv package type, broadband package type...and so on.

Just giving a percentage can be unhelpful as it quite often gives no clue as to what the whole offer is and what you are actually paying monthly.

(this is not directed at the post above, but just somthing I have noticed generally)

As mentioned in previous post, equivalent to 50% off everything.

Family package with HD, movies and Multiroom.

No broadband or phone as I moved away so they couldn't hold me ransom as I need the broadband for work, plus works out cheaper with all the introductory offers with other companies.

Price for my package is RRP of £69 and I'll be paying under £35 plus got the £100 credit

Not a big forum user but had to log in to thank people in this thread.

Cancelled my sky at around 19.30 this evening by phone and have now signed back up with them via live chat.

I was paying £75.75 per month for Family Package plus sports, movies and HD. I was offered (and accepted) £30.30 per month for a year and a £100 statement credit. They offered the £30.30 per month and a £50 statement credit as soon as I started the chat and they upped this to £100 credit as soon as I asked if there were any deals they could do on Sky Q (a question they avoided).

So, thanks all for the idea of cancelling and seeing what they would offer.
