Just thought I'd let you know I spoke to Virgin the other day and got my price down to 41.90. I have phone, broadband (L not sure if this means anything now) and excel TV. As this is the lowest price I've seen online for such services I was pleased. I also got a HD+ box, they wouldn't waive the fee which peeved me a little bit, however they did agree to half it. So far so good.
Received the box and the contract today and it shows 46.90. I know its only five pounds but its the principle of the thing. They should be quoting the right figures. Also its showing the full price for the V+ box so I'm going to have to call them again. I believe this happened to someone else on here so clearly you need to keep your wits about you. Will let you know how I get on.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -

The contract shows the full price (ie what it should be without any discounts) - the discounted price isn't documented anywhere until you receive your first bill (most confusing!!), though I think that you may be able to see it when you log in to your customer area.

Ive been paying £62.25 per month for Sky World with Movies and Sports channels. Explained I want to reduce my costs and was offered 25% off of the Sky World subscription of £52 per month for 12 Months so thats a £13 a month saving.
I mentioned about the 6 Months with 50% off and was told they could do that but as I will be in a new 12 Month agreement I could not renegotiate until the contract is up.
Still expensive but quite pleased with the saving.0 -

That's all good and well, and that's pretty much what they told me when I rang to query it. Like I said I'm happy but the paperwork is garbage I'm afraid. It gives the price then just below that it says this DOES NOT include any non DD or paper billing fees. So how many pointless calls is this generating then?
What makes it even dafter is it included the non DD fee, as did my bill, but I've gone back on DD. So it says on the bill non DD fee, this amount will be taken by DD. I feel sorry for thier staff as they've still got a long way to go in the not making life difficult for themselves stakes.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
Hiya
I have :
1) Sky Tv (entertainment + kids)
2) Line rental through Sky
3) Broadband
4) Sky calls.
Because of a few calls to mobiles and 08 numbers, our bill this month is £80!
Rang to cancel (been with Sky 9 years) and was offered 50% off TV (ie £10.50 vs £21).
Declined the offer and cancelled (got a mac code).
Will sky try to win me back with a better deal?

Just got a "Come back to us for half price for a year" TV. I've been away for about 2 months and I really really miss them! There's so many channels I can't get that I used to watch so think I'm going to go for it! £10 a month isn't too bad!0

Hi chaps,
I currently pay 73ish per month just for sky tv (hd, world + espn). I also have BT line rental at 38 per quarter just so i can use broadband which is via Orange at £10 per month.
Any advice out there to 'slimline' my bills? Feel like i'm paying over the odds for this stuff really, and wanted to know if any of you had been in this situation and what you did.
Many thanks in advance0 -
EW Sky Channels for only £10.25/month
Hi,
Wanted to post my sucess story, im sooooo thrilled.
Sky Functions at present:-
1) Sky Tv Entertainment + (before sept I had variety & knowledge)
2) Sky Broadband Everyday Lite
3) Sky Talk Freetime
So full price would have been £21.50 tv, £0 broadband and £12.25 Line rental. Total about £33.75 per month.
Today I have accepted a an offer for 6 months half price tv and 6 month half price line rental.
Bringing total down to £16.38!!!! DEAL BREAKER OR WHAT.:j
Spk to a very nice scottish gentleman an hour ago from Sky and it appartently all sunny skies in Fife., i bet not anymore!!!
Also he said, of I ring up again in 5 months, there maybe able to reduce my outgoings futher.
Next task, try and get a HD+ 1tr box FOC and not set up costs :-)0 -
I just phoned up Virgin to 'cancel' my service. Was expecting them to shower me with offers but they didnt really seem bothered i was 'leaving'.
So the guy gave me a date when my service will be cut off and aranged for my equipment to be collected.
I really dont want to leave and as you've probably guessed i really just want to pay less etc.
Is this common practice for VM and will they hound me in a few weeks to offer me deals etc?? Also if they do contact me, if i keep declining them will the deal increase???
Time to get my poker face on i think.
outnumbered but never outgunned0
