  • we were paying £81 for top package plus hd plus multiroom and espn. Phoned up at first to downgrade as got a good deal from them last year but got no offer. Then phoned to cancel. After she asked me about 10 times if i was sure i wanted to cancel she went quiet for about 3 minutes before coming back with an offer of £39 for the top package. Id lose multi room, espn and hd. I could have this for 6 months contract free or 12 months if i agreed to subscribe for the whole period.

It definitely seems harder to get a deal than it used too but given the way prices are rising across the board sky will be losing more and more customers every week. The lady i spoke too said she had worked in cancellations for over 5 years and had never known it to be so busy.
  • I have just called sky to cancel sports (I really only wanted a discount) and they didn't bat an eyelid, so am now serving my one months notice.

    I'm not sure whether to

    a) hold my nerve and hope they call offering me a better deal and if not then just re-subscrube to sports when my notice expires, or

    b) call them back saying I want to cancel the whole package as it's not worth it without sports and hope they give me some sort of discount.

    Anyone have any opinions?

    Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, I cancelled the lot!

I initially phoned up to just cancel sky sports, they offered me a crap deal so i cancelled. The next night i phone back again to say that i only watched Sports
so wanted to cancel the lot.

Said finance was a problem (it is not) and i needed to cost cut in these grave economic times.

The upshot was that i received a 100 credit to my account and half price sky for 6 months, i am now on my 3rd 6 month discount. The nice girl
told me to phone up again before my latest discount expires and they will see what they can do for me.
  • I have been having problems with my sky for a while. Everytime it rains theres no signal. Pixels are crashing on tv. But when we go out and bash the dish with a stick it works, which means its the dish...Told me i have 2 choices. (1).Either take out insurance to cover the box and the dish or (2).pay £65 for an engineer.
So I told them to put me through to cancellations, dont see why we should have to pay to replace a dish that has been up for god knows how long, when we pay for a full package every month.
So she put me through to cancellations who then said we can send an engineer free.I said I was told I had to pay £65 for engineer. She said while you are cancelling I can send one for free, told her not to bother.
So I cancelled and next thing couldnt even get a single channel on,(blue screen).. So I rang back thinking they had already cut me off and they said it was 31 days. They hadnt cut me off,Nothing they could do and i would have to pay for next 31 days.BUT she said if you reinstate your subscription i might be able to send someone out.
I DONT THINK SO..Anyway Virgin are coming out next week toId going with them.At least with Virgin the box belongs to them and they come out and fix it..
  • I've been a VM customer for a few years now and recommended my GF this week.

I was torn between the £65 cashback for a generic online application or £50 recommend a friend discount on my bill as I couldn't do both.

I called and spoke to VM asking for 0.5Tb Tivo, L tv, M phone and M broadband. Online price £49.95 upfront, £27.90 for 6 months up to £42.90 after.

With some haggling I managed to get: 0.5Tb Tivo, V+ HD box for bedroom, XL tv, M phone, M broadband for £25.40 for 6 months, up to £44.50 after that and no up front cost!!

Gotta love a nice little saving!!
  • my half price package finished on sunday 18th and i cancelled 31 days before.the lady i spoke to did`nt offer anything to me at all to keep me as a sky customer so went ahead with cancellation.
i got a questionaire about two weeks ago asking for my views and why i cancelled and whether they could get in contact with me which i allowed.
anyway today got a phone call from a friendly sky caller and was offered half price full package without the hd for twelve months.
well pleased happy i held my nerve in going ahead with my cancellation as i was looking into getting freeview hd box when they called me so result.:money:

bear in mind that sky apparently cannot offer you another offer whilst you have an offer running currently

  • same here - cancelled and cut off altoghether 2 weeks ago.
Even ticked the box in survey to say 'don't call me', but they did today.
The lady said I can upgrade/downgrade throughout the 12 months without affecting the offer.
