after many months of putting it off, i finally got round to phoning sky. gave them the ( semi true ) story of not being able to afford it because everything else is going up.
they suggested moving my phone to them, my broadband to them and then cutting espn to cut my costs. i gave it the i will just have to cancel everything - for the 3rd time - what date would that be stopping when he finally relented.
25% off for a year  took 23 minutes but i got it2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -

Seagal, i did the same recently after being with them a good few years, and yes they didnt seem to bother when i told them i had a better deal and i was leaving. About a week later retentions started phoning me offering a better deal and after a bit of haggling i accepted, be warned though they only seem to call during working hours 9-5pm which is a bit of a pain if you are at work.0

Been with Sky for many years and had numerous deals by threatening to cancel from 25% movies, sports etc.. been getting multiroom discount of 50% on my account for the past 3 years as requested to cancel it due to cost and asked for a sky freeview card was told deal would be for 6 months but they never took it off me. I'v even actually followed through and cancelled my account when moved house to get new customer deals on x 3 occassions..lol
On a number occassions when box has broken I threaten to cancel and low n behold the engineer cost is waived..even got friends n Family to do same and they use the same conversation card..Oh I see you've been a loyal customer if I waiver the enginner cost will you stay with Sky..of course I will..However last night I think I got my best deal ! yet it just amazes me how the prices changes so quick.
My multiroom box (Sky + box about 3 years old) in my daughters bedroom had been playing up for a while losing signal etc and she kept turning it off at the wall in a strop (we all know what teenage girls are like..:) ) anyway last night box finally gave up the ghost n wouldnt turn on. Rang SKy spoke to a friendly bloke went thru the system resets etc to no avail . Engineers visit offered costing £65 or I could have a SKY HD+ for £109 with free installation instead of £299 as I was a loyal customer. I said I couldnt afford either and wanted to cancel. Went thru to cancellations and she thought I was only cancelling my multiroom I said NO cancel it all I'll get 2 boxes for free from Virgin.
Then offered a SKY HD+ box for free with installation costing £15 instead of £299 + £60 installation , I could also have Sky HD for 6months for £5.25 (50% discount) then 6 months at full price £10.50 before I could cancel HD..(cancelled this previously as waste of money imo). and she confirmed I could continue to get multiroom for £5 I snapped her hand off....
Daughter happy as getting her Sky back on espec as just bought her a 32inch LCD for her birthday
Actual cost Advertised Existing Customer price
Sky HD Box £15 £299
Sky HD channels £ 5.25 £ 10.25
installation £ 0 £60
Multiroom £ 5 £10
1 month cost total £ 25.25 £380
Saved over £400 over 12 months :j0 -
Can I get TV & Broadband Services Without a Dish ? I have just haggled with Virgin for over an hour about the cost of my services when I move house and they have refused to reduce the cost below £33 per month for TV (Large Package) and Broadband (Large Package). They said I will not be able to get it cheaper anywhere else !
I have a BT landline and cable is connected (which I want to get rid of) when I move so what are my options without a dish as they are not allowed on the bungalow I am moving to ?
I am a pensioner and cannot afford the increasing costs which are hitting £60 per month for the 3 services at the moment which includes the phone.
I hear some people are getting rid of the satellite/cable services and doing without but how do you watch TV and use Broadband if you do?0 -
£60 per month sounds high. We get TV, BB and Telephone from Virgin all for under £50. Not the basic package either. You should be able to do better I would think, especially if you are out of the tie-in.
Cable or BT if you can't fit a dish seem the only options.Like all revolutions, guerrilla goodness begins slowly, with a single act. Let it be yours.

Ok - been with Sky for years - have occasionally used the - nope cant afford the package - and been offered deals but dont know what to do this time!
Sky+ box is knackered - Ive phoned them and they've done the reset and the reboot and now say the only thing left is a £65 engineer visit or an extended warranty to cover everything at £9 a month on top of the £64 I presently pay.Cant actually really afford either - on maternity leave!!!
Do I phone and threaten to leave? If they dont offer anything do I have to go ahead with it?
I have checked and dont get Virgin telly in my area although we do get BT vision - do they offer as much as sky programme wise?
Sorry - hubby miles away and not back for months - just needed to ask some advice!! thanks for any offered!!:D0 -

I'd call their bluff and start the cancellation process so you get put through to retentions. They'll break at some point!:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -

Don't count on it, they are all at this "increasing prices at the drop of a hat" business. I told Virgin I would cancel my package when I got moved into my new place and the fella never batted an eyelid or tried to talk me out of it :mad:0
