  • Put this in the hpones forum but not got much response so I'll try it here:

Hi guys, need a little help as I'm not well up on this. Got my dads bill here, which is coming in at about £95 a month! Obviously this is a lot and we ened it to come down, so any advice would be welcome.

Firstly, our tv is not hd and we don't want or need it. Secondly, we're mad for football so probably need all the sports. Here's the bill:

    Telephone line rental - 12.24
    Talk unlimited - 8.00
    TV Size XL - 25.00
    V+ HD Box 0.00
    Broadband Size L 25.25
    Paper bill charge 1.25
    Sprots 1, sports 2 22.50

Now obviously the paper bill charge can be slashed right away, but I'd have thought with us having tv, internet and phone that we might be able to get a better deal, we've also just got wi-fi, can anyone advise?

I've read so many times about how people ring up and get half price blah blah

Ive been with sky for 4 years, never had a discount. I rung up a month ago and old them I couldn't afford it anymore, not one offer. I'm now 2 days from being turned off, so rung back up and the best they'll do is £26 a month off

I currently pay £81.50 for sky world, multi room, hd and ESPN

I sense there's a lot of crap being talked!

You do realise this is the 6 months half price deal that everyone is talking about? Half price of the Sky World package for 6 month. It's the biggest single discount that you could get.
  • After reading the report I decided to contact sky this afternoon - have been with them 10 ish years and have full world package, hd and multi room. I have been approcahed by Virgin and explained this to the first lady i spoke to who explained there were no speacial offers. I asked to speak to the cancellations and spoke to a very nice lady who I explained to I was sick as a loyal customer never receiving any offers. She offered me half price world package and I cancelled my HD as i never remember to put it on the channel anyway!! Good service from SKY and had definately made me stay with them and help my pocket!!!

anyone know if it's possible to get through (either directly or put through) to retentions if you're not currently a customer?

this department seem to be the only ones who have deals to offer so need to speak to them!!

was previously a customer but more than 12 months ago, still have equipment so don't need anything just switching back on!

I don't think they will speak to you, to them you will be a new customer now so no need to speak to retentions?

  • I have TV (V+HD), Phone & BB (10MB) with VM. With SkySports+SSHD. This is costing about £74 a month.

Contacted Sky and a similar package costs £75, and can't get them to budge on that.

Any help in getting VM to lower the costs?

    Thank you.
