been watching this thread for a while now so thought i'd give sky a call last night.
told them i had an offer from virgin for 6 months half price TV and phone (even though virgin aren't in my area) the guy on the phone said they didn't want to loose me as a customer so has given me 25% off for 12 months which i took. I was also offered 12 months free line rental with sky talk if i took up unlimited broadband, but it turned out unlimited was sold out where i lived so didn't go for that. was very impressed with the guy on the phone and how helpful he was.0 -
I also called sky and they gave me 25% off for 12 months. Which was well worth the 5 minute conversation with the nice man at Sky. So thanks to all on this thread that encouraged to to try this.0

I'm not a haggler, but i saw the savings on here & thought i would give it a go. Called customer services, (no being put on hold). Lady was very polite, Offered me 50% off my viewing packs over 6 months or 25% off the viewing packs over 12 months. Which is a £153 saving! so i took it over 6 months, better the money in my pocket than theirs! Also she told me that as soon as the offer runs out, i can call again to see if they can do me a similar offer:j0

This is really frustrating. Talk about double standards. I'm trying again tonight 1 last time.0

Well I didn't say I was going to leave. I just explained that I was looking to downgrade my package as couldn't continue paying what I was, as money was a bit tight. The guy was very helpful. I think the threatening to leave line is wearing a bit thin. Don't say it if you don't mean it! :silenced:0

I switched from SKY to Virgin about this time last year.
So i have the Virgin VIP 50 tariff
XL TV
50mb broadband
1 x V+HD box and a regular box in another room
Telephone
Am i currently paying about £110 a month....So as i approach the end of my 12 month contract...If i phone them up and request cancellation...What sort of deal can i extract from them

I actually think that it was a HUGE HUGE mistake for MSE to make it headlines on here and on the TV last week that Sky were one of the easiest to haggle with. Sky have obviously latched onto this and are now just calling customers bluff. I've never really had a problem haggling with Sky, until this week that is. Seems almost all other posters on here have been met with the same wall.0

I'm no longer under contract, so I tried this today following a house move, and have come away with the top package; sports, movies and HD for £36.25 for 6months. Very happy! :j0

Just an update from me.
Since I last posted, I had a sky leaflet through my door offering me broadband, calls and sky tv for £32 per month. I called sky pointing this out and the best they would offer me was to pay another £30 per month for calls and broadband, bringing my monthly total to over £80. The guy at the call centre agreed this was ridiculous, but stated that in our postcode, he couldn't offer us any sort of deal.
I asked him to cancel our subscrition to Sky, and said I would sign up with BT, who are doing a comprehensive package for about £30 per month. We'll see if I hear back...0
