  • A few years ago I got Sky installed and basic subscription for 6months half price, which I then cancelled after the 6months.
I never got any calls to entice me back since.

I'd like to have Sky+. I entered my details online for existing customer offers but it didnt find me, assume its due to not being a customer in previous 12months.

Whats the best method for me to get Sky+, i dont want the phone or broadband, however prefer not to pay £20 a month and pay £49 for the box plus £30 setup. quidco gives £100 cashback for sky+.

Would I be offered better if I rang up with being an old customer rather than start fresh?

I had a 6 month deal which ran out last month.

Called Sky - they said there are no offers for me.

Called again a few days later and said I was cancelling - still no offers. I gave my notice anyway.

Then got a letter saying 'if there is anything we can do to change your mind, please contact us' - so I emailed them asking if there were any offers, and got a reply saying no.

This morning, a week before my cancellation date, got a call from Sky offering the World package at 1/2 price for 12 months, plus HD for £2.50 a month - and no extended contract.

So it seems it is worthwhile calling their bluff and cancelling, even if they don't offer anything when you call to cancel.

hi,can i ask did you ask for the hd to your package or did they already offer it with it as i have 12 month half price offer but did`nt get offered the hd for an offer at all.

The original offer was without HD - when I asked about HD she said she 'needed to talk to her manager' and then came back with the HD for £2.50 a month offer.

you don`t get if you don`t ask as they say good on you.
i was silly enough to say i could live without it(which i can)but if had been offered at that price would probably have had it

I've been with Sky for about 8 years and now have my TV, Broadband and, for the last twelve months, my telephony with them for which I benefitted from 12 months free line rental. In all honesty in the 8 years I've been with them I've generally been on some kind of discount.

I gave them a call today and initially all they could offer me was 25% off my TV package for 6 months which I declined. Gave them a call a little later and upshot was they offered me the same 25% off but for 12 months and no new tie in - I remain on a rolling contract. It's not the greatest discount but it appeared that on my account this was the maximum they were willing to go to-I'm pretty used to negotiating these things and I definitely felt they wouldn't budge any further.

If I only had my TV package with them I would have cancelled and awaited any enhanced offers closer to my termination date, however having my Broadband and Telephony with Sky I really didn't want to risk issues with cancellation orders going through to these two services as they are rock solid. It's probably worth people bearing in mind that if you have these services and go down the cancellation route in pursuit of an enhanced offer you possibly could lose your Broadband and/or telephone service and then have to wait for them to be reinstated as third party companies, namely BT, are involved (Cancelling and reinstating a TV service is much easier and doesn't have any knock on effect). TBH the reason Sky offer customers multi services is to reduce customer churn rate so guess their strategy works.

Anyway, I'm not complaining - it's still a saving and over the years I've enjoyed greater ones so ultimately happy.

I cancelled my Sky a month and a bit ago now. I wasn't offered any deal (my 6 months half price was ending) and went ahead and cancelled. Had the questionnaire, completed and allowed contact but no call came.

    Spigs

Snap , It's been 5 days since my service ended, thought I'd get a call as I ticked allow contact and yes to would I reconsider if I was offered a deal on the feedback form but I've had nothing.

I'm not missing the channels as most of what I watch is on freeview but I am missing the recording features but I'm not going to pay £10 just to be able to record on the box, I'll get a freeview or freesat PVR instead.

Rang Sky today, not been on a discounted deal for a while - straightaway was quoted 25% off for 12 months with no tie in, all I had to do was mention that I had been offered the virgin deal of 50% off for 6months. Cant even get virgin here *grin*
  • Almost at cancellation date so rang today to see if they would improve the offer of 25% discount. Spoke to cancellations but they said 50% reductions no longer existed and would not budge from 25% offer. As my box is faulty too I agreed to a free service call to fix or replace and then to call again once that was done to take a discount as staff could not authorise more than one incentive at a time.

I feel a bit fobbed off as clearly there are still recent posts reporting 50% discounts, and being rural I get poor service from Sky, no Anytime function, snail speed broadband so can't stream online etc. Seems rural customers pay the most but receive the least. Oh well, sunny skies today!
But there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!
  • Called Sky today to cancel. Due to a change in their packages, I am paying £21.50 for 'everything' TV except Movies and Sports. This might seem reasonable but I am not really using it.

Pushed for a better deal but was told that because of a 'guy called Martin the Moneysaver' Sky, Virgin and BT are no longer offering 50% discounts'. The best he could do was 25% off.

    Ah well.

Just called Virgin to try and get a discount or additional service added - have been a customer for 5 years paying £42ish for XL TV, M broadband and phone line rental. Asked if I could upgrade to Tivo etc and was just told it would be £49.95 and then £3 per month. Think I will get OH to ring them he is much tougher than me!
