Check your MySky home page. Many have the 50% offer minutes after cancellation.
I received 50% off a week after cancelling but only off the tv and for 10 months, nothing off he rest of the package. Now two weeks into the cancellation and had a survey asking me why I have cancelled and filled it all in saying would stay if got the same deal as before but fibre unlimtied bb instead of ordinary as unlimited broadband is rubbish, never had consistant speed and they have a record of that.Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Is this your first time of cancelling? If so it's a common ploy by Sky.
By the way have you cancelled all of it or just TV? You are better off just cancelling TV, waiting for an offer on that and then renegotiating the rest.0 -

Yes my first time cancelling as it's first time I've been with them. I cancelled everything as it all ended on the same date and didn't want a bill 3 times the one I'm paying now. If they don't come up with a deal then will switch to virgin as I prefer their broadband anyway, but know I will have to pay a lot more with them.
Is it correct that if I go through with the cancellation and it gets switched off I can't watch what I have recorded on the sky box?Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

Well hopefully you are not bothered about keeping your phone number as cancelling may end up with you losing it.Is it correct that if I go through with the cancellation and it gets switched off I can't watch what I have recorded on the sky box?
Yes. The recordings will stay on the box but will not be able to be decoded without the relevant subscription.0 -

Phoned sky yesterday and the best deal they could offer me was 35% off for 12 months.
Phoned again today and they are now offering me 50% off for 10 months on a 12-month contract. I declined and have given them my 31-days cancellation.
I am after what I currently have; namely 50% off and in no contract. I will try on-line chat later today and hope that I get someone from India. They offered me the deal last year.
The bluff game has started. It has always worked me over the last few years.
Amazing. Just been on Sky chat, spoke with a very helpful Indian gent, got 50% off TV, no contract and £50 applied to my account.
I will drop an em to Jeremy Darrock this afternoon just to record what I have agreed.
Started off with Sky yesterday that the best deal they could offer me was 35% off my TV. Then this morning, best deal was 50% off for 10 months and then got this fantastic deal.0 -

How did you manage to get this deal? What did you actually say to them?
I have been out of contract for months, and have threatened to cancel on live chat, but all I have been offered is 25% off for 10 months.0 -
I have just got Virgin to match their Uswitch online deal, which is fractionally better than BT's current offers. I don't need TV; I am with Freeview and happy. £5 for 12 months plus line rental and weekend calls included. Plus a new "thingy" that means faster speeds and wi-fi. They offered to send me one today or have an engineer fit it next week; I chose the engineer, as I haven't a clue with anything to do with such things.
The initial operator offered me a lesser deal, but I persisted and he went to the supervisor (30 seconds) and then gave me the deal that I wanted.0 -

You must cancel before you will be offered any good deals. I have done this for several years now and have always got 50% off TV.
When I cancelled this morning, I went onto My Sky and already had an offer of 50% off for any TV package with a 12 month contract.
I then went onto Sky online Chat and spoke to an Indian gent (NOTE : I hoped it would be an Indian because they offered me a very good deal last year).
You must cancel Sky before you are offered any good deal.

I gave virgin 30 days notice on friday.
200mb tx exel and m phone with additional box.
Price has risen to £65 and they woulnt budge only offering £3 off daying it was the best they could offer.
Gets a call last night off retentions £41 per month 12 month contract.
Bit theirhand off.
I was only asking for £50 pm in the first place.
My advice call their bluff and wait.0 -

HTHs.
Thanks Stephen.
I am just a bit wary of cancelling in case I don't get any decent offers, and don't really want to be without Sky over Christmas and new year.
Also, would I then lose everything recorded on my sky+ box as I have a lot of unwatched programs on there?
Is it a 30 day cancellation period? If so, if I cancelled and didn't get any offers could I cancel the cancellation before it takes effect?
Thank you.0
