  • Last Thursday i sat down and sorted out my parents Sky costs after their prices had gone back to full price. They were initially offered 25% off for 10 months via post.

Started a live chat at 19:20 and asked to cancel. Was straight away asked to carry on the chat on the phone to which i said no as my hearing isn't too good. Big no-no getting in a telephone conversation with them!

Went through the rigmarole of do you watch all the channels, can we reduce your content to reduce your bills, could we provide your calls / broadband, etc, etc. Then was offered 35% off for 12 months.

Went through with the cancellation which was implemented at 19:58. Refreshed the My Sky page online and was offered 50% off at 20:00!!!!

Started another live chat and by 20:20, had secured 60% off and £50 credit for my folks.

It literally is that simple. No need to lose your rag with anyone. Be clear in stating you watch all the channels, don't want a telephone conversation and be willing to cancel.

Back in June i got 60% off and £100 credit on my account. Wonder what there'll be available next June?

Out of interest were you pretending to be whichever parent the account is held by? Reason I'm asking is that even as an authorised person on my Dad's account they still insisted on speaking to him if it was actually to cancel.

Having cancelled last month, MySky was showing 50% off with a few days to cancellation so I thought I'd try live chat to see what offer I could get. After some haggling I've got slightly more than 60% (to match the current price I pay @ 60% from last year's pricing) on a rolling monthly contract with £50 credit. As other posters say, there are good offers if you're willing to follow through on cancellation and then negotiate.
  • Cancelled sky today.

Offered 50% of 10 months said no

My Sky showed 50% off 12 months.

Now the waiting game and one one that i'm prepared to wait even if my TV is switched off.

I'm just a little curious... if the My Sky page offered 50% off.... what did you say on the sbsequent live chat to get 60% and £50 off??? Did you mention the 50% banner...?

Two weeks after cancelling,I had an email offering 50% plus £50 off any package -so used that as starting point in the chat-also put very early in conversation ,that my old box was on the way out -ended up taking an upgrade in package in return for new box for nowt BUT by negotiating 60% discount plus £100 bill credit on the new package, I've ended up only paying ~70p more per month than last year's 50%+ deal -for a lot more content all in HD:)

confirmed my Sky cancellation on monday, by Wednesday offered 50% off for 12 months (basically continuing what I already had), plus £50 credit and new Sky+HD box (currently on very bog standard 7 year old Sky box). Happy with that.

Putting some of the £50 towards a Triax IO-link with PSU!

Sky tv - all channels including Sports and Movies but no HD or multi room - has been off now for a few days.

When I login to My Sky it's now changed from 50% off any bundle, which was visible within 2 minutes of me giving notice to cancel, to 60% off.

Had an email offering 60% off, £100 credit, rolling contract with the usual 30 day cancellation period.:j
That's the deal I was holding out for, but after it being off for a few days, I'm not sure I want it back on.
Will give it another week and decide.
  • I tried to get my Sky bill down, so rang them and they offered £4 pm off if I re-locked into a contract for 12 months. Bloke said that best they could do so I said I'll cancel then, as you've lost European footie etc, so he's cancelled it. Thought they may have made me a slightly better offer first :/
Are they likely to make any offers between now and 22 December (when my service ceases)?
    Thanx.
