We have the old white sky plus box from about 4 or 5 years ago and I was keen to upgrade to a new HD box but was advised 2 weeks ago that there was no chance of this. We are now 5 days with no sky so signed in today and latest offer is 60% off for 12 months plus £100 credit - very nice! Used live chat and again asked for a new HD box and they said yes plus free fitting. That will do for me.
:T......another example of why it pays (big time) to call Sky's bluff and carry thru with a cancellation !!

Just called sky to try and get my bill down. Said I was tginking of leaving and he looked at the phone part 1st. at present I pay 16.50 line rentwl and 5 for anytime calls including 0870and international calls to 20 countries. apparently its changing in dec so that line rental is 17.50 snd you csn either pay 8 for unlimited landline 0870 and mobile calls or 12 for that plus 50 countries international. As i have s mobile with unlimited minutes I dont need the mobile calls but my sis lives abroad so need the int numbers. SO tgey sre changing the package and for international and mobile calls (that i. dont need) it will cost an extra 8 per month. I told him thst wss rubbish and he then said i had the benefit of the package im on for 12 months ss it doenst exixt for new customers but as i sajd thats what i signed up for. went on to discuss tv and he offered me 8 off my 36 pounds per month bill. So at present i pay 7.50 broadband 36 tv and 22.50 phone and 8 off a 56 bill ( that will rise to 64 bill in dec if i. want to keep int calls ( is rubbish, I told him i would think about it. I have been z sky cust for 14 years0

The £5 package with international calls has been unavailable for newcomers for well over a year; in fact more than two years (didn't exist when I joined).
You should be able to get a better deal, if you call again, but they are unlikely to budge on the calls package. I got half price tv (as only the Original package), free broadband and half price line rental, plus £50 credit, but will have to pay £8 for Anytime Extra.0 -
Which country does your sis live in??0

Hi all, am looking at negotiating with Sky as like others bills are only going up.
I am out of contract with my TV at present but not out of contract for phone & broadband until the new year so I was wondering:
1) Do I wait until everything is out of contract before I negotiate or try and get a deal on TV in isolation now?
2) Having had a look at the offers Virgin Media are doing they aren't as good as previously-that said they have in the past offered me good deals in the post- so my comparative offers that I can use as a bargaining tool aren't brilliant so again is it worth hanging on?
Thanks in advance0 -

Do TV in isolation now. No point waiting, you'll probably get a better deal in isolation anyway.
Use another provider like BT/Talk Talk to compare.0 -
Depends on your marketing preferences. Have you set them to allow you to be contacted with offers etc?
Is this the first time you've done this?
No guarantees but usually you are contacted. However in some cases it's after switch off. You would have been better just cancelling the TV part and then waiting on an offer. Once you got a TV offer you could then have negotiated the BB/LR as it's more difficult to just switch back on.
However now you have done it you either have to wait it out or cancel the cancellation. If you cancel the cancellation Sky have called your bluff and you never will have offers.
Sky must set it to auto no marketing because I know I didn't set mine to none. Thankfully after reading your post just checked mine and changed it to accept marketing as my contract is up in a month and half. Do sky ring on the house phone with an offer or the mobile on the account as I don;t use the house phone. ThanksBe thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

I was in that position in July 2014. Cancelled the TV part and received a 50% off offer for 12 months.
Left LR/BB running until November when I moved to PlusNet for the grand total of £16 for the whole year!
So deal with TV now.0
