Hi all, just got off the phone from sky, to say Im confused is a little of an understatement, im out of contract on the tv but apparently contracted until febuary for broadband and phone. (I took out the free bb offer think it was when they released sky sports 5, think it was free bb for 6 months but they extended it until august next year) The advisor kept reverting back to the full package price which was confusing to say the least but basically the best offer was 30% off for 8 months on a 12 month contract. I said i will cancel so then he says you can retain the plus recording facility on my sky box for 12 months. Great but Ive just had an email now saying ive signed up to bb/phone for another 12 months which was never really explained correctly only that the sky plus facility would work for another 12 months. I was hoping to get an offer of at least the 50% and I would have took it.0

Obviously dependent on you agreeing to anew contract for BB/LR.
I would suggest you phone them back and tell them you don't want that and that you only want to cancel the TV.I was hoping to get an offer of at least the 50% and I would have took it.
You will only get that once the cancellation goes through and retentions phone you or an offer appears on MySky.0 -

Cheers called them again and the advisor agreed to cancel my broadband/phone. When people are getting these 50% offers is that off the hole package or just the TV?0 -

Do you mean cancel completely or do you mean the recontract that they put you on?
I hope you don't mean cancel completely as that will give you problems such as losing your number and having a cease fee. When people are getting these 50% offers is that off the hole package or just the TV?
The 50% offers are usually just for the TV. LR/BB offers can usually be free BB for a year and/or reduced line rental.0 -
Hi,
I had a 'bog' standard Sky+ subscription of the Family bundle + movies + on demand and catchup for £53/ month. Rang them up just over a month ago and they only offered £10/ month off; new customers could get the same deal for £35/ month so I cancelled.
I let the 31 day period elapse; they didn't call me or email to try and keep me!
Called back four days after the 31 day cancellation period had elapsed and said that it was their last chance to keep me before I brought a FreeSat HD+ PVR box and Netflix.
They gave me the same package with 60% off on a 12 month deal with no tie-in; £21.20/ month So just by waiting 4 days I have 'saved' £380 compared with last year! Result.
That said maybe they could hear it in my voice that I was perfectly willing to walk away; which I was.
Happy haggling :-)0 -
Sky BB coming to an end, sky offered £17.40 plus £2.50 for broadband, bit of a mockery when new customers are £17.40 and Free broadband.
Will start to probe them for there offers via Live Chat, I suspect a request to change providers will push them to reveal the best hand..0 -

However, the half price rental was because someone wrongly offered it at £9.99,an offer which has been discontinued.0 -
I have TV and Broadband separately, they were taken out on different dates through the year which helps with deals.
We currently have 75% off Family, with Sports and Movies included. It comes to £32 a month. (Tv is £25, Broadband is £7.50 per month).
This may affect what they offer, as last time I physically signed up on another provider and requested a number transfer before the "Free Line Rental for 12 months, Free BB for 6 months" offers came out of the woodwork.
Sky TV is a bonus for us, not essential. However BB is..0 -
Just came off the sky live chat, told them I wanted to cancel because of the price and they just offered to do it there and then. No quibble no haggle, just, ok I can do that right now do you want me to do it. was expecting some effort to retain me0

I think calling is better, as I have only once had a foreign call centre by phone ( an information call), but all via chat were foreign (ie working from a script with no discretion).0
