I have no problem with taking the 12 month minimum term, as I know about the forthcoming phone increases which are factored into my deal (ie the first 6 weeks will be at present rates) and the tv ones, usually around June won't be phenomenal on a half price Original pack.0

teddysmum, thanks for mentioning the "Original" pack yesterday. I didn't know what it was so had a look this morning and it would actually suit me a lot better - and is cheaper - than the Variety pack that I'm on currently. So I'll bear that in mind when they offer me a better deal than the current one that's showing on My Sky.
For some reason I feel in a much stronger position this year than I did last year, and Sky seem to be trying harder to retain their customers0 -

My offer has improved on yesterday's.
It was free broadband, £9.99 phone (to go to £10.99),£5 calls (to go to £8), £10 Original tv and £50 credit.
However,as the original call person mixed up and my account had to be sorted by a manager today, it appears that they can't do the £10.99 phone, so I have half price phone instead ie £8.70 after the price rise, so I'm £2.29 a month better off.0 -
Hi all, at present i am paying (just noticed on my bank statement!!!) £101 per moth to sky and my 12 month contract ended a few months ago so I can change to virgin or try for a better deal with sky. My details from mysky account is:
sky multi screen......11.25
sky multi screen......11.25
Family bundle.........36.00
Fibre unlimited.......20.00
talk line rental..........16.40
1571 voicemail........1.00
talk anytime..............5.00
TOTAL......£101 per month.
I have 3 sky HD boxes in 3 rooms.
Don't need sports (but a free BT sport would be ok with virgin:-))
What do you think sky would do for me cost wise.
And what would be the equivalent Virgin package be and price I wonder? I know I will need to call both eventually but want to be armed with all the info I need before the hour long call begins....:D
Thanks for any advice.........:)“Having, first, gained all you can, and, secondly saved all you can, then give all you can"....John Wesley

You can pick the equivalent package on the Virgin website to see the cost.
Sky have been offering discounts up to 60% off if you cancel and let it go through.0 -
First of all cancel the tv package. Then negotiate phone etc a couple of weeks later.
Do you really need the answering service, as you can buy an answerphone for just over the cost of a year's subscription ? (I found 1571 useless, even before they started charging, as the message taker kicks in too soon after the first ring and can't be adjusted.)
What you get offered very much depends on the person you deal with, but you should get at least 50% off tv, if you cancel and don't accept any 10 month offers on 12 month contract. One of these reduces an apparent 50%off to just over 40% off.0 -
I have just renegotiated my dad's Sky package with them after our six months discount offer was due to end next week.
Agreed another 12 month contract with:-
Unlimited BB - Free for the next 12 months (the free fibre offer would be pointless for us as dad barely uses the internet!)
Sky Talk Anytime Extra - The new phone package which is £8 from today rather than 1st December 2015 and now includes calls to UK Mobiles!
Landline Rental - £17.40 (£4 discount bringing it to £13.40) I realise this means the price stays the same as the last 12 months = £16.40 L/R + £5 Calls but now includes UK Mobile Numbers.
The Variety Pack for TV - £30
Sports Add On - £17
Total £68.40 PER MONTH
Also got them to send a NEW Sky+ HD Box and Router as the old ones are over 2 years old and a £50 Sainsbury's Voucher (which will help with Christmas Food Shopping!) Plus 3 months of FREE Sky Movies.0 -

So no saving on the TV - you could have done better by cancelling the TV altogether. Once you got a TV offer ( of at least 50% and probably more ) you could then have negotiated the BB/LR.
You may not have got a new box but a 2 year old box should not be an issue. My box is much older.0 -

Interesting... I guess there is no 'cooling off period' when agreeing a new contract as well over the phone!0 -

I'm not sure on that. There may be a 14 day period to change your mind but you would need to check with Sky.0
