  • Thanks for the info re checking MySky for deal offers - forgot about that. Had cancelled about a week ago and just checked to find a 50% off offer. I did a Sky chat to check this and got them to add £50 bill credit too after reading your offers. Thanks. Have signed up for another 12 months...can't do without Sky Sports! :D

Online chat.I was connected fairly quickly but was in chat for at least 45 minutes.
The Sky agent was very persuasive but she wasn't pushy and she was trying her best to get me a decent deal.
My experience last year was that they didn't really care less if I cancelled or not - until the cancellation went ahead, that is.

Initially offered 33% discount for 5 years.
Final offer was 50% for 10 months on a 12 month contract.

In my experience with Sky this year and last year, it's important to not start haggling until you're very close to an offer you're prepared to accept. Let them do the talking and absolutely if you're prepared to be disconnected stick to your guns and say you want to cancel.

Eventually went ahead with cancellation, checked I had a cancellation email from Sky which I did, then went to My Sky. 50% off any tv bundle for 12 months.
Will wait to see if offer improves after disconnection.

Did they want you in a contract for the 12 months?

Last year my deal didn't require a new contract and I'd really, really like the same deal again this year, ie not having to contract for 12 months.
I'm prepared for it to be disconnected because that's when the best deal came in for me last year so I'll keep hanging on.
The email didn't mention contract minimum term and I didn't go ahead so don't know.

I took up the 50% off any TV package offer on MySky through Live Chat. I was specifically told it did not tie me into a new 12 months contract and I would be on the 31 day rolling contract.

Yes I did email the transcript so I have the proof.

I TOOK THE 10 MONTH OFFER BUT ONLY WHEN I GOT AN EMAIL DID I REALISE IT WAS 12 MONTH CONTRACT. I COMPLAINED THEY REVIEWED THE CALL AND CANCELLED THE 12 MONTH CONTRACT BUT GAVE ME THE OFFER. IL BE RINGING IN 10 MONTHS. OOPS caps

Just called Sky. They gave me £8.00 off my TV and £4.00 off my phone for 10 months. Very happy :-)

Line rental is going up in December so its really £3 off your phone. Without knowing your TV package, £8 might be good or bad in % terms....

My contract is up in November and had numerous calls with cancelations to get my price down.

Had a 25% new customer deal for the last 12 months.

Had several conversations with them telling me best deal for next 10 months will be £34.15 for Variety Pack, Phone, and BB Unlimited.

Advised I wanted to think about it, but then got an email to advise I had taken a new 12 month phone contract only and they was giving me free broadband.

Called to complain as I did not want to be stuck in a contract for another 12 months and was told that they will update the system and that I could cancel at any time if I wish.... only for me to receive another email stating I am now getting my phone line for £9.99 for 10 months & free broadband.

I have confirmed that my TV is still due to expire in November.... when I hope to get a deal on this as well.

I absolutely refused the 10 month offer, as you have no leverage until at least 11months, when you give notice.

After cancellation an offer for 12 months followed with a £50 credit, too.

I questioned the 10 Months contract today and advised when could I get a new deal... was told to call back in month 9 and a new deal could be discussed before the price went up to full price.

That is unlikely if your offer and minimum term are not both 10 months or you have a rolling contract.

If in a 12 month contract, you only have leverage on cancellation at month 11.

I have refused a 10 month offer and got a 12 month one.
