I got 50% off 12 months on my sky after cancelling, wish i'd held out for 60% off tbh!
Is there anything similar with virgin when you cancel?0 -
I will be very surprised if VM offer you anything like 50%. I was with them a few years ago and, TBH, I cannot fault Sky TV and their offers. I have been on at least 50% off TV for a few years now. I will be cancelling my TV package again in a few weeks to get another 50% off deal.0

Having heard nothing last year,I was surprised, this year, to get an email saying they'd offer 50% off for 12 months plus £50 , only two weeks after giving notice and already an improvement on the original 50% off for just 10 months with no credit.
The offer ends on Monday, so I may just let the service go off. I'm not desperate to something which is very much a luxury, so if the offer then decreases, I can do without.0 -
Was paying £75 a month for TIVO box, V+HD box in another room, XL TV (includes BT Sport), L Broadband (100MB) and Talk Weekends.
Phoned up retentions who offered £68.99 a month plus 1 month free. Wasn't impressed with that so initiated 31-day disconnection process.
Had call from Virgin 2 weeks later offering me what I have at the moment, plus Sky Sports and Sky Movies free for 6 months for £57.99 a month. Price will continue at that after free period ends. Happy with that so accepted.
Was quite prepared to leave for Sky and sign up to one of their recent deals, and I think you have to be to get offered the best retention deals on offer from Virgin.0 -
Hi all
I wonder if anyone could help me with tactics to negotiate my package down. I currently have the Sky+ Variety pack, HD pack, Fibre pro unlimited broadband, but no movies or sports or multiroom. I currently pay £88pm which I think it quite a lot considering what I have seen others pay.
In the meantime, Virgin promoted their largest pack to me, with Sky & BT Sports, movies, 156mb Broadband, and £100 voucher for £82 over 18mths. So, put Sky on notice for cancellation and ordered Virgin. Sky tried to give me their biggest pack for £77pm, with Sky sports and movies and Fibre unlimited pro, but not Bt Sport and Multiroom, which i cannot use because we can only have 2 cables per flat in my communal building. I didnt think this compared to Virgin since it would cost me another £20pm for BT sports. So I refused.
Anyway, I tried a few more times to see what they had offered and had nothing below £77. Well since then, Virgin has been installed but I really dont like it. So, planning to cancel that under the 28days refund agreement.
My sky is cut off in a few days, so should i wait until it is properly cut off before I call their retention team again. Does it make a difference? Am I already down on their system as having rung a few times therefore some "desperado"? Also, if I allow the service to be cut and I do get it put back afterwards, will I have to wait for BT openreach to reconnect the broadband or would that be some type of switch flicking on their end.
Not really massively fussed about movies, but defo need both sports packages.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
p.s. I dont see any discounts in "MySKY" page when I login.0 -

The problem is your Line Rental and BB. If it gets switched off you will have a cancellation fee of £30, will probably lose your number and will have to be reconnected by BTOR.
The TV is a different matter as it's just a flick of a switch.p.s. I dont see any discounts in "MySKY" page when I login.
It's always on the main My Sky tab. However what marketing preferences are set - have you allowed contact for offers?
I would suggest you get onto this link and see what can be done. It would have been better just to cancel the TV and then wait for offers. Once you had an offer you could have then negotiated the LR and BB.

As per teddysmum, I have now received an email offer of 50% plus £50 credit;additionally they are offering a new HD+ box if I take the family pack. Currently I have the basic pack plus Sport on an old box ,so not really interested in the Family pack but I'll have a think - the offer is valid til 19th Oct so 10 days to think about it.
Would still prefer the 50% off plus a new box!0 -

I will make a suggestion.
I assume you and teddysmum are out of contract or soon will be.
My advice is to phone sky and just (or continue to) cancel the contract until they offer you a new box for free. I got a new free box a few weeks ago by doing something similar.
Please remember that Sky will do everything to keep your monthly revenue stream (rather than you cancelling) so please play the game with them.
I was with VM a few years ago and I am very pleased with sky and the deals that we have got.0 -

I think you'll find that they have already cancelled and these are the deals that they are now getting through as a result of that cancellation.0
