Well it's that time of year again, time to cancel and hope for a good deal.
It's quite funny because I'm seeing some of the same posters who were here the same time last year, along with me, waiting to see what Sky would offer us.
I got a very good deal last year, and I'll only settle for something similar this year, quite prepared to be without it.
To be honest, when I was disconnected for a few days last year it was the box I missed more than the actual tv programmes. I did get a Panasonic one but it's just not as intuitive or as quickly responsive as the Sky box.
The biggie for me is that they give me a deal with no contract again. Not sure they're still offering it, but I may well be moving in the early summer and don't want to be contracted for an extra 6 or 7 months.
    We shall see.
Not sure I'm up to calling them, :rotfl: may give online chat a try.

    Just a quick question.
When I went through the cancellation process last year, most of the good deals were being offered by Sky phoning the customer to offer them. Reading recent posts it seems everyone has got their deal by going on Sky Live Chat.
Has anyone had a call after cancelling from Sky retentions recently or have they stopped doing that?
  • Online chat - 60% off for 12 months and £70 credit - I really would like a new Sky box but computer says no so might buy a refurb from EBay. Offer is tempting.

I'm very surprised at that - since they offered me a brand new box about 3-4 months ago for nothing (but I didn't accept in case it screwed my 50% off deal) I would have thought that they would have negotiated over the bill discount vs new box - mind you , 60% off and a £70 bill credit ? If I get anything like that, I'll find my own Sky HD box !!:rotfl:

    Hi there,

I spent over an hour in an online chat session last Friday trying to get a cancellation.

Currently on an £87 package with a £35 discount and we had £100 bonus on sign-up.

Was very insistent that unless I dropped some channels or took up Sky ADSL / phones they couldn't offer any discount.

Eventually offer me an £18 discount, but I insisted on proceeding with the cancellation.

    Eventually the cancellation was processed.

I then immediately logged on MySky to see:-

"Stay with Sky and get an exclusive 50% off any TV Bundle for 12 months" which is basically the same as I was offered when I signed-up last year.

Still have 27 days until the cancellation happens, so I'm wondering if the offer will be improved?

Does this offer match that offered to others?
    Titch :)

50% off ends next month and was offered 33% off for 5 years! Tied into contract for 1year. My bills would still have increased by £15-20 a month so said no and gave 4 weeks notice on the tv. I have the full tv package but am happy to bin the movies and sports to get the monthly price down. My bb and phone have increased too as they said my free bb deal was linked to my tv deal. Nothing in my Sky yet although I was phoned last year when I got 50% off. Last year was the first time I played the cancel card and got 50% off, will I be offered similar second time round?

Through online chat got offered 50% off tv straight away. What am I better holding out for?

Knocked back the 50% and long story short ended up with 60% off for 12 months and £50 credit. Happy enough.

Cancellation took about 15 minutes,as I was sounding out offers, but I was offered 50% off for 10 months immediately, but declined 10 months on principle. The man said he would note the offer on my account, should I change my mind.

With 3 weeks to go, I had an email emphasising 50% for a whole 12 months and a £50 credit bonus as well....so I'll wait.

Just cancelled Sky via on line chat. Best offer was a paltry £10 discount for 10 months or reduce the bill for a reduction in the package. Advisor says that 60% discounts are never available, which is surprising given the posts on here.

My online chat last week ended at 35% off -and the agent said virtually the same -absolutely no better offers available - but I logged into MySky after finishing the chat and 50% off was already up !!!
